Relax Express@Chiangmai Gate

3.7(178 reviews)

Open until midnight, which makes this one of the more useful massage places on the southern edge of the Old City. Finish at the Saturday market, walk a few minutes, and get an hour of Thai or foot massage for 350 baht. The Sabai combo, an hour of Thai followed by an hour of foot, runs 650 baht. A 120-minute foot, back and neck session comes in around 700 baht.

The routine is the familiar one done properly: a foot wash in dedicated basins, a cool drink while you wait, a form asking about pressure preference and any medical issues, then tea and cookies afterwards. Reviewers who like real pressure say the therapists deliver it and keep it up for the full session, with stretching and assisted bends worked in. The rooms are air conditioned and clean.

It isn't flawless. There are complaints about being left sitting after checking in with a booking, and about therapists chatting to each other through the massage. Say clearly on the form how much pressure you want, and speak up if the session drifts.

Reviews from Google

I had a wonderful experience at Relax Express Massage in Chiang Mai. From the moment I walked in, the staff were friendly, professional, and welcoming. The place was clean, calm, and well-organized, which immediately made me feel relaxed. The massage itself was excellent — strong where needed, gentle where appropriate, and very attentive to my comfort level. The therapist clearly knew what they were doing and focused on releasing tension in my shoulders and back. I walked out feeling refreshed, relaxed, and much lighter. Great value for the quality of service. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting Chiang Mai and looking for a reliable, professional massage. I’ll definitely come back next time.

Wonderful experience! Excellent service — they wash your feet in special basins and offer a cool drink while you wait. The staff are polite and professional, and the massage therapists really care about your comfort. After the session, they serve tea with cookies — such a lovely touch! The interior is modern and clean, with air conditioning, air purifiers, relaxing music, and a pleasant aroma. Highly recommend this place if you’re in Chiang Mai!

I absolutely do not recommend this massage parlor. We made a reservation for a one-hour essential oil massage and arrived on time. The front desk staff asked us to fill out a form, but after that, we were just left there with no explanation about whether we should keep waiting or what to do next. During the foot washing and massage, the therapists kept chatting with each other as they worked. The whole process, including the end, did not feel relaxing at all. None of the staff displayed a professional attitude. The only two stars are for the tasty rice crackers and the comfortable environment. I won't be coming back next time 🙂

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas

Learn Wat Pho First

Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.

Communicate Pressure Preferences

Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.

Book Longer Sessions

A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
