Papazula
Tucked along Phuket Road in the heart of Phuket Old Town, Papazula is a bar and restaurant that doubles as a live music venue, drawing a loyal crowd of locals and travellers alike. The combination of good food, cold drinks, and regular evening performances gives it a distinct character that sets it apart from the many dining options in the area. Reviewers consistently highlight the warm, friendly staff and the owner's personal touch in making guests feel welcome. The venue offers both indoor and outdoor seating, with the outdoor area noted for being well-ventilated — a practical advantage in Phuket's tropical climate. The menu covers Thai and international dishes at mid-range prices, with visitors reporting satisfying lunches for around 300 THB per person. The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried, suited to lingering over food and drinks rather than a quick meal. Note that some dishes can arrive spicy, so it is worth specifying your heat preference when ordering. Good to know: Live music plays in the evenings, so those wanting the full Papazula experience should aim for a night visit rather than lunch. The restaurant opens daily from noon until midnight, offering flexibility for different schedules. Walk-ins are generally accommodated, though checking the website at papazula.net ahead of busy weekends is a sensible precaution.

Visitor Reviews
We were staying in Phuket Old Town and found papazula, which quickly became our go-to spot. One of the few places around with both indoor and outdoor seating — the outdoor area is very well ventilated, comfortable, and perfect for a relaxed drink. The staff are extremely attentive, friendly, and fun, which really adds to the experience. We haven’t tried the food yet, but we came back twice just for the great cold drinks. The vibe is very chill, the place is spotless, and it feels welcoming and easygoing. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Phuket Town. 🍹✨
Great food, warm people & chill vibe I stopped by Papazula today - what a hidden gem in Old Phuket Town! We ordered lunch, spent around 300 THB per person, and everything was super fresh. The atmosphere is relaxed, music soft, and the staff are genuinely kind. We didn’t wait long for a table, the place feels clean, modern, and welcoming. Perfect for travelers who want something authentic but stylish. Will definitely come back - highly recommend!
Very friendly and cheerful staff, including the owner. Nice menu for food and drinks. There was live music playing during our visit, which was really wonderful. We went without a reservation and luckily there was space available.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
