Grandma Homemade Thai food

4.9(945 reviews)$$$$

Tucked away on Thanon Sirirat in Patong, this family-run Thai restaurant has quietly earned a devoted following among visitors who stumble upon it while exploring the area. What sets it apart is the combination of genuinely homemade Thai cooking and a stunning sea view that catches most guests off guard. The owners cook and host with a warmth that gives the place a distinctly home-like feel, far removed from the tourist-oriented restaurants that dominate much of Patong. The menu focuses on classic Thai dishes prepared fresh daily using traditional methods, with an emphasis on authentic flavour over commercial shortcuts. The setting is casual and unpretentious, with an open atmosphere that takes full advantage of the viewpoint location. At budget-friendly prices, it represents strong value for travellers wanting honest, soul-satisfying Thai food without paying a premium for it. Reviewers consistently highlight both the quality of the food and the genuine hospitality of the family who runs it. Good to know: The restaurant is open every day from 10am to 7pm, making it a reliable option for lunch or an early dinner. It sits roughly an 18-minute walk from Freedom Beach, making it a natural stop when exploring that part of the coastline. Arriving mid-morning or mid-afternoon tends to mean a quieter, more relaxed experience, as the intimate setting means seating is limited during peak meal times.

Visitor Reviews

Authentic, High-Quality Thai Food with a Stunning Sea View! This restaurant is an absolute gem and comes highly, highly recommended (easily 4.8/5 stars!). If you are looking for authentic, soul-warming Thai cuisine, you must visit. Incredible Food and Heartwarming Service The description of "Grandma home-cook Thai food" is spot-on. Every dish we tried was high-quality, clearly made with care, and tasted like true traditional cooking—the kind of food you travel for. The service only adds to the magic. You are served by three incredibly friendly grandmas and the son, who runs the coffee counter as the barista. They make you feel instantly welcome, like you've been invited into their family kitchen. Their warmth and kindness truly enhance the entire dining experience. Beautiful Environment and Ambiance Beyond the amazing food and service, the location and environment are spectacular. Situated facing the sea and high up, the restaurant offers a beautiful environment and stunning views while you eat. It’s the perfect, relaxed setting for a memorable meal. I can’t recommend this place enough for the combination of genuine hospitality, fantastic food, and beautiful scenery. A truly memorable experience!

This was my first time visiting Phuket for a 4 day 3 night trip, and this place left the deepest impression on me! The food, service, and environment are all top-notch. The food is truly authentic, delicious, and very reasonably priced. The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming 🥰 The view is absolutely beautiful as well. I’ve realized that the places that leave the strongest memories during my travels are often not in the tourist areas. I personally rented a motorbike to get here, and the location is slightly up in the hills. Whether you come by grab or drive yourself like I did, I highly recommend visiting this place. Definitely worth supporting!

This restaurant is amazing. Is only 18 minutes walk from Freedom Beach and you will enjoy a breathtaking view. This family business is amazing. This is their home and they share it with everyone by serving their amazing food. Really tasty and authentic Thai. Me and my friend had som tum Thai salad, padthai grandma, tom yum and coconut soup ( all seafood). I will give it 10 ⭐️+++. Definitely recommend.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
