Visitor Reviews
A hidden gem in Bophut – Namjim Seafood I’ve been lucky enough to visit Namjim Seafood (น้ำจิ้มซีฟู้ด) in Bophut, Koh Samui — and even luckier to know the owner personally. You can truly taste the love and care that goes into every dish here. Khun Ying, the owner, cooks everything herself and sources only the freshest ingredients daily. The seafood is always top quality — from grilled prawns and squid to oysters and crab — and everything is served with her signature nam jim seafood dipping sauce: spicy, garlicky, sour, and just addictive. The vibe is laid-back and local, a perfect evening spot to relax, share good food, and enjoy real Thai hospitality. The place sits across from Sleep Inn near Plailaem Soi 13, and while it might fly under the radar, it definitely shouldn’t be missed. Highly recommend calling ahead — especially if you want to catch the daily specials or come with a group. Prices are fair, the food is fresh, and best of all — you leave happy and full every time. If you’re on Samui and craving proper seafood with bold Thai flavor, Namjim Seafood should be at the top of your list.
New restaurant in the area, brand new building! Very nice vibe, the food is very authentic thai. As a foreigner I recommend the Tom Yum, with either shrimp or chicken. The prices are very modest, and the owner is very sweet.
Amazing seafood spot! All of the food was delicious and super fresh. We especially loved the thai oysters, grilled squid, and the salmon in seafood sauce. Definitely come here while on Kho Samui!!!
Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
