ไทยเสรี Home Kitchen
ไทยเสรี Home Kitchen is a casual, well-regarded Thai restaurant situated on the outskirts of Mueang Kanchanaburi, drawing both locals and passing travellers with its commitment to genuine home-style cooking. The kitchen leans into traditional recipes rather than tourist-friendly adaptations, with standout dishes that include an intensely spiced jungle curry made with housemade curry paste, Mi Krop (crispy rice vermicelli), deep-fried chicken wings served with fish sauce, and a prawn soup that reviewers describe as flavourful without being overwhelming with chilli. The space itself is clean, unpretentious, and welcoming, with an attentive owner and staff who speak English and provide English-language menus — a practical detail that makes ordering straightforward for international visitors. The restaurant is roadside but well-maintained, and the atmosphere leans relaxed rather than formal. Portions are noted as satisfying, and the range of dishes suits those wanting to explore regional Thai flavours beyond the standard tourist circuit. It sits within the Tambon Ko Samrong area, making it a reasonable detour for travellers exploring Kanchanaburi town and its surrounding attractions. Good to know: ไทยเสรี Home Kitchen is open every day of the week from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, covering both lunch and early dinner. Visiting mid-afternoon or on a weekday evening tends to mean a quieter experience with faster service. Casual dress is entirely appropriate, and the Facebook page linked in the directory is worth checking for any updates before visiting.

Visitor Reviews
Very cute restaurant with delicious food and attentive and kind owner. We came on a Sunday evening and were quickly seated with only a few other parties there. -English speaking staff and on menus. -Large menu with many options. -Prices reasonable and portions large. -A/c, photo-friendly with beautiful views. We ordered: -หมี่กรอบชาววัง Sweet and Sour Crispy Noodles: One of their recommended dishes and our favorite. Unique to eat in a restaurant, normally it’s sold in boxes for souvenirs, but was so delicious fresh and with the veggies provided. -คะน้าปลาเค็ม Chinese Kale with Salty Fish: A bit oily but good. Would try a different vegetable dish in the future. -(not pictured) แกงป่า Jungle Curry: Spicy and delicious! Highly recommend.
Today, I had the pleasure of trying Thai Seeri, a wonderful find in the outskirts of Kanchanaburi, and I must say, the flavors remain consistently exceptional. A standout recommendation is the deep fried Piebald Horseface Loach. It may appear ordinary, but it's incredibly delicious. The Crispy Whole Fish is perfectly salted, and a single plate of it with fragrant jasmine rice disappears quickly. The fresh shrimp paste chili sauce complements the dish beautifully, accompanied by an array of fresh vegetables. And don't forget to savor their signature dish, the Wild Curry. It's renowned and rightfully so. This place certainly lives up to its reputation!
Good place with great food especially fried chicken wing with fish source and beef is soo good 👍

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
