Varee Fine Casual Dining
Varee Fine Casual Dining occupies a scenic spot in Tambon Rim Kok, offering Thai fusion cuisine in a setting that balances refinement with an unhurried, relaxed atmosphere. The minimalist interior and outdoor riverside seating create a distinctly romantic ambience, making it a popular choice for couples and travellers looking for something a step above the typical casual meal without the formality of a traditional fine dining venue. The kitchen delivers creative, well-presented dishes that draw on Thai flavours with contemporary influences. Visitors highlight the quality and visual appeal of the food, and the pricing is considered reasonable relative to the overall experience. The outdoor riverside tables are a particular draw, offering a scenic setting that enhances the meal considerably, especially in the evening hours. Good to know: Requesting a riverside table in advance is strongly recommended, as these seats are popular and may fill up quickly. The restaurant opens at 6:00 AM every day, making it a viable option for an early breakfast before day trips to nearby temples or mountain villages. Service has received mixed feedback in some reviews, with occasional language barriers noted, so travellers who want to discuss dietary requirements or menu details in detail may find it helpful to check the website at www.vareechiangrai.com before visiting or to arrive with some patience during busier periods.

Memorable dining experience. Thai fusion food that was well-presented, creative and delicious. Lovely, minimalist furnishing and polite staff. We went there for dinner on 2 consecutive nights. Will come back again if we visit Chiangrai.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
