Vinyl & Wine
Tucked away in the Rim Kok area of Chiang Rai, Vinyl & Wine blurs the line between wine bar and intimate live music venue, drawing visitors with a combination of fine dining, an extensive wine list, charcuterie boards, and nightly live performances. The name nods to its musical roots, but in practice this is a full evening-out destination rather than a simple drinks spot. The atmosphere is cosy and warm, with a small, characterful space that fills quickly on performance nights. Live music typically begins around 8:30pm and can feature groups as large as a six-piece band, making for an energetic, at-times loud experience in an intimate setting. Performances are themed and vary by night of the week, giving repeat visitors a reason to return. Service draws consistent praise, and the food and wine menus are considered well above the standard for Chiang Rai nightlife. Good to know: seating is limited, so booking ahead is strongly recommended, particularly for evening visits when live music is on. Some visitors report the venue continues to welcome guests even when it appears closed from the outside, so it is worth persisting if the door looks shut on arrival. Arriving early is a good strategy for those who prefer a quieter start to the evening before the music and crowd build.

Visitor Reviews
We really like the atmosphere and dinner experiences at V&W here in CRai. Everything is tasteful 😌 The live performances are cosy and themed based on the night of the week. We like the music & artistry! The food is also delicious. We have tried the following:- • burrata salad • “berry” cheese platter w/ honey drizzle • v&w “fried chicken” / chicken wings • carbonara • beef ragu • bisque pasta dish • pork chops • brownie & ice cream Personally, I would skip the bisque and ragu pasta dishes. The pork chop was good, the carbonara is tasty, cheese platter for sharing and the v&w chicken wings are a must try! Would recommend to friends & look forward to coming back again for another lovely and memorable night at V&W 🩶 P.s. I recommend using line to chat & make sure they are available for reservations. Also, helpful to know whether the band is performing so there’s no disappointment if it’s something you look forward to!
Excellent restaurant and wine bar. I spent Christmas Eve here and had a blast. The food. The wine. The service and even the live music. Everything was great. And it started with a disappointment. I was looking forward to spoil myself with the tenderloin which they didn’t have that night. But they showed me their rip eye steak and made sure my cut came with little fat. It was delicious! During daytime this turns into a coffee shop. And next door they have a cocktail bar. Must visit!
Urban fine dining meets smooth live grooves - amazing menu (good & wines), great live music, and fantastic service. 🫶💕🥰 Always good times here, but book or come early. 💃🏼 Pro tip: despite “closed” sign in the daytime on Google maps; vinyl and wine is a cafe during the day with great deli menu and even a fun selection of board games! 🕺🏻
Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
