Candy Club
Candy Club occupies a well-known spot on Soi Buakhao in central Pattaya, drawing a consistent crowd with its live music lineup that blends Thai and western songs. The bands are a genuine highlight, performing to a packed venue most nights and setting the place apart from quieter bars along the strip. Beer prices are reasonable by Pattaya standards, and the atmosphere is energetic and social. The venue is compact, with limited seating and a frantic vibe that reflects the wider Soi Buakhao nightlife scene. It functions openly as a freelance bar, meaning solo male travellers are likely to be approached by women looking for company — something worth knowing before visiting so expectations are set accordingly. The crowd is a mix of tourists and locals, and the tight space fills up quickly once the evening gets going. Good to know: the venue has received reports from multiple visitors of payment disputes, including allegations of being short-changed or overcharged, particularly when paying with large notes or after drinking. To avoid issues, keep track of what you hand over, ask for itemised bills where possible, and pay in smaller denominations when you can. Specific opening hours are not listed, so it is worth confirming before heading out, especially during the low season when some bars on the strip reduce their hours.

Candy has a niche in Central Pattaya. It's the known place for freelance girls to find a customer. The area is tight, seats are scarce, vibe is frantic. The band are well above average for Pattaya, playing loud Thai upbeat music mainly (which gets the girls dancing around), as well as the odd farang song here and there. A bit loud for most people, but I would say these are the tightest band at the moment doing the circuit. Staff work incredibly hard, and after a while they get to know you, which is good. I do have one issue though, because it's crowded and the staff sometimes have to fight their way to reach tables, I often get a few of them literally shoving me whilst I'm seated or sometimes backing into me whilst I'm seated. I'm not a big guy. I appreciate they have a job to do, but there a few who work the tables aggressively in their movement. Most people won't notice, because they are mau (drunk), but I do, and it gets tiresome. Perhaps management could bring this up in next staff meeting. I come here 2/3 times a week.
A well-known spot on Soi Buakhao where they mainly sing live Thai songs. Freelance women wait for men at this location. The prices for a beer are okay/reasonable. The only negative point is that it's always very crowded, quite cramped, and the air conditioning is simply too cold for Thailand.
Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
