The Palms Bar & Grill Samui
A rock and live music staple in Chaweng, The Palms Bar & Grill has built a reputation around its resident band, frequently praised by returning visitors who come back specifically to catch the same performers night after night. Covering artists from rock and pop through to heavy rock acts like Rage Against the Machine, the live music is clearly the headline draw here rather than an afterthought. The venue sits close to Green Mango, placing it squarely in the thick of Chaweng's nightlife strip.
The bar runs a cocktail and beer happy hour from 7 PM to 9 PM, making early evening arrivals worthwhile beyond just beating the crowd. As a bar and grill, it combines food with drinks in one spot, and the mid-range pricing keeps it accessible without sacrificing atmosphere. The vibe is casual and social, drawing both travellers and locals into what feels like a genuine neighbourhood bar rather than a tourist-only venue.

Reviews from Google
I wrote a review about this place a year ago from another account. Now, I'm writing a new one from this account. I was so happy to come back after a year and see the same talented band " The Jack and Wine"! You guys rock! I had so much fun. It's great that people can easily ask to have their favorite songs to be performed by the band. You just write it on a piece of paper (ask your waiter for it) and give it to the waitress, who will give it to the band. The frontman is so nice that he will always read it out loud and say if he can perform the song asked. I absolutely love this place — the design, the location, the band, and the staff. Such amazing rock bands are rare, and I wish the band and the bar lots of success. God bless you all!❤️🙏 Oh and I was so happy when the band sang the song I asked for "The killers - somebody told me" , great performance with incredible energy 😍 The band is just real rockstars, the style the charisma, the energy of all members of the band are on point⚡️ keep it up guys ❤️🙏
The best place for rock and heavy rock live music in Samui. The band did amazing covers especially of Rage Against the Machine.
I was having a great night and spent thousands of baht on drinks. I went upstairs to use the toilet briefly and the staff had cleared my table and thrown my beer in the bin. When i went to ask where my drink had gone they scooped my beer out of the bin and put it in a beer sleeve. Fully expecting me to drink my beer that had been in the bin! How did they know which one was mine??? Absolutely disgusting service from the staff especially when i had spent so much money! They acted like its my fault my beer got chucked because i went to the toilet?? I immediately left the bin beer on the side and left. When i would have stayed for hours longer and spent alot more money! They should have given me a fresh beer! I came here 3 years ago and the service was much better then. Safe to say i will never be returning! What a dive.

Tips for Visiting Nightlife & Bars
Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
