SUVARN BAR
Tucked inside the Chaweng Garden Beach Resort along Koh Samui's busy beach strip, Suvarn Bar has built a strong reputation as a serious cocktail destination in an island setting more often associated with casual beach drinking. The bar draws a crowd that genuinely cares about what's in the glass, and the staff match that standard with attentive, knowledgeable service that has impressed visitors travelling from cocktail-savvy cities like New York. The menu leans into creative, well-executed cocktails — signature drinks alongside classics like espresso martinis — served in a setting that manages to feel both well-decorated and genuinely cosy. Comfortable outdoor seating lets guests watch the Chaweng Beach Road scene pass by, while the resort surroundings keep the atmosphere a notch above the louder strip bars nearby. The bar draws solo travellers, couples, and groups equally, and the team is noted for making solo visitors feel particularly welcome. Good to know: drinks are priced at the higher end for Koh Samui, so this is better suited to those prioritising quality over volume. The bar opens at 6 PM every night of the week and runs until 1 AM, making it a good early-evening choice before the beach road gets crowded. Checking the website at suvarnbars.com before visiting is worthwhile for any special events or seasonal promotions.

Visitor Reviews
Absolutely worthy of 5 stars! We live in NYC and frequent cocktail bars as a hobby, and this spot in Koh Samui absolutely blew us away. The service was incredible - warm, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do - but the cocktails were even better. The mixologist is truly a master of his craft. We especially loved The Hidden Gem, and really appreciated how each signature cocktail was inspired by different areas of Koh Samui and featured unique Thai spirits. The attention to detail and creativity were unmatched. The bar itself is beautifully designed and feels both luxurious and inviting — the perfect place to spend an evening in Koh Samui. A must-visit for any cocktail lover
All the drinks here are such a delight - from expertly made cocktails to selections of wines. Staff attentive and accommodating throughout. The ambiance is well decorated yet very cozy with mildly upbeat music - perfect for relaxing and socialising. Price is above average - although I don't feel overcharged - but quality drinks, service and cozy ambiance delivers it well.

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
