Henry Africa's Bar
Henry Africa's Bar is a popular pool bar tucked into the Chaweng-Bophut strip, drawing a steady crowd of travellers looking for a sociable, low-key start to their evening. With four pool tables, a large selection of drinks, and enthusiastic staff who are known to challenge guests to a game themselves, it has carved out a reliable niche in Koh Samui's busy nightlife scene. Happy hour deals and bucket options keep the pricing accessible, though regulars tend to recommend sticking to beers over the buckets. The atmosphere is open-air with air conditioning directed into the seating area, striking a balance between the breezy, casual feel of a beachside bar and basic comfort on warmer nights. Smoking is kept to the street-side area. The vibe here is sociable rather than high-energy, making it a natural first stop before moving on to the island's clubs and dance venues later in the night. The bar operates every night from 6 PM until 3 AM with no closing days, so it fits easily into any evening itinerary. Arriving before 10 PM tends to offer a more relaxed atmosphere and better access to the pool tables before competition for them picks up. Casual clothing is perfectly appropriate, and no booking is required.

Visitor Reviews
My experience at Henry Africa's Bar was good. I didnt eat there but enjoyed a few beers, virtually hassle free, the shots lady did ask if I wished to buy 5 shots get one free to which I politely declined, one lady also approached me to sed If I wanted some company or a game of pool. Nice bar really with friendly staff and sensible drink prices.
Very friendly staff, great happy hour options and plenty of billiards tables. Lots of seating and large selection of drinks. While it is open air, there is AC blowing. Only smoking on the street side seating (at least that I saw).
Great bar. Excellent pool tables. The staff are incredible opponents. Highly recommend. The buckets didn't taste like they had any good stuff in them. Will stick to beers next time.

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
