Le Petit Cafe & Wine Club
This intimate wine bar brings a touch of French-influenced character to Chiang Rai's nightlife, drawing a loyal local crowd alongside curious travellers. Situated on Thanon Sankhongnoi, it operates as a cafe during the week before transforming into a lively wine bar and live music venue on Friday and Saturday evenings. The combination of a relaxed, cozy atmosphere and a genuine local following sets it apart from the more tourist-oriented bars in the city. Guests can expect a curated wine selection served by the glass (around 360 baht) or bottle (around 2,000 baht), alongside a small cheese selection to complement the drinks. Live music typically kicks off around 9 PM on Saturdays, when the venue fills up and takes on a noticeably more social energy. Seating includes coveted couch areas that regulars sometimes reserve in advance, giving the space a welcoming, neighbourhood-bar feel rather than a formal wine lounge. Good to know: Le Petit Cafe & Wine Club opens only on Fridays and Saturdays from 7 PM, so plan visits around those evenings specifically. Arriving before 9 PM offers a calmer start before the band begins and the crowd builds. Those wishing to bring their own bottle should note that a corkage fee of around 900 baht applies.

Visitor Reviews
A cafe during the week and an amazing wine bar and music venue on Saturday nights. People show up near 9, when the band starts, and some even make reservations for the couch areas. Good house wine, dim lit and candles on the inside and outside a patio surrounded by foliage (bug spray provided). A portion of the patio is for smoking. The menu is mostly wine, a few beer and cocktails options and one dessert that changes. They also serve several cheese platters. Very professional. Wish they had speakers in the patio so my husband could have a cigar and listen to the music. Another reviewer said it was crowded, but we were the only people until about 9 PM (late January).
This place was so much fun. Local hangout with chill atmosphere and live music. Lots of good wine and a few selection of cheese to go with it. The bottle price for wine selection is reasonable for import wine. If you're not a wine person, they do serve beer as well. This is definitely a nice wine bar. They open Friday and Saturday only, at this time. I recommend call ahead to make a reservation to get your seats. We got lucky and got the last table for 4 when we call in the morning for same day visit.
Upscale place with a nice atmosphere and live band playing. Nice selection of wine (~2000B for a bottle, 360B for a glass). You can bring your own bottle but it will be 900B for the corkage. Italiano aperitivo food style available (cheese, ham etc.)

Carry Your Passport or a Copy
Clubs and some bars check IDs strictly, especially in Bangkok's Thonglor, RCA, and Sukhumvit areas. A photo of your passport info page on your phone usually works, but carrying a laminated photocopy is safer.
Know the Closing Times
Legal closing time is 2 AM for most venues, though enforcement varies. In Bangkok's designated entertainment zones (RCA, Silom Soi 2/4, Khao San), some clubs stay open until 4 AM. Islands tend to be more relaxed about hours.
Buy Bucket Drinks Cautiously
Island bucket drinks (mixed spirits in a small bucket) are cheap and fun but notoriously strong and inconsistent. Stick to one, stay hydrated, and never leave your drink unattended at beach parties.
