Secret of Samui

5.0(443 reviews)

Tucked just outside the entrance to Fisherman's Village in Bo Put, this small but well-stocked shop specialises in organic, locally made beauty and wellness products. Visitors will find an impressive range of natural cosmetics, body oils, lotions, facial washes, and a notably extensive selection of incense, all crafted with an emphasis on quality ingredients and authentic Thai artisanship. The shop doubles as a sensory experience, with fragrances that reviewers consistently highlight as a standout feature. The atmosphere is intimate and carefully curated, leaning more toward a specialist wellness boutique than a general souvenir shop. The owner, Da, is frequently praised by visitors for being knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely helpful in guiding customers toward the right products, whether for personal use or as gifts. For travellers interested in organic self-care products or meaningful, locally sourced keepsakes, the shop offers a focused alternative to the broader market stalls nearby. The shop is open seven days a week, with weekday hours running from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM and slightly later start times on weekends, when doors open at noon. Visiting on a weekday morning allows for a more relaxed browse before the Fisherman's Village area gets busy. Checking the website at secretofsamui.com ahead of time is worthwhile for those wanting to know more about current product offerings before making the trip.

Amazing shop with a big variety of incense! The seller is incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful, which makes the whole experience even better. The shop itself is beautiful and has a great atmosphere. I absolutely loved it and will definitely come back!

Such a gorgeous shop just at the entrance to fisherman’s village. Da was so nice and helped me to pick out some gifts for my mum for Christmas. There are so many options and everything looks and smells amazing. Would really recommend!

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls

Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.

Arrive Early or Late

Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.

Be Cautious with Tailors

Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
