Why go, and how to do it well
Koh Sak is the small island just north of Koh Larn, mostly uninhabited, with no ferry, no village and no accommodation. It gets visitors because its reef, on the east side, is in better shape than the busy stretches around Koh Larn, and because the island-hopping tours from Pattaya stop here for snorkeling and sea walking. Expect a short beach and a lot of boats at midday; the snorkeling is the reason to come, not the sand.
Most people see it on a group tour that pairs Koh Sak with Koh Larn and Koh Khrok, with a stop of around 45 minutes. Chartering a speedboat costs more but lets you arrive before the tour groups and stay as long as you like. There is no dock everywhere, so be ready to wade ashore.

Tips for Visiting Islands
Check Island Closures
Similan Islands, Surin Islands, and Koh Tachai close mid-May to mid-October. Some smaller islands reduce ferry service in monsoon season. Always verify schedules before planning your route.
Snorkel Gear Is Cheap to Buy
Rental gear is often scratched and ill-fitting. Buy a decent mask and snorkel at a Big C for 300–500 THB — cheaper than two days of rentals and much more hygienic.
Bring Cash to Smaller Islands
ATMs on smaller islands like Koh Kood, Koh Mak, and Koh Yao charge high fees and sometimes run out of cash. Withdraw enough on the mainland before heading over.
