Mida Grande Resort Phuket

4.2(1,133 reviews)

Situated near Surin Beach in the Thalang area of northern Phuket, this resort hotel occupies a convenient position close to one of the island's more relaxed and upscale coastal stretches. The property is a popular choice for package holiday travellers, with all-inclusive arrangements available through major tour operators, and the complex features pool facilities, on-site dining, and accommodation ranging from standard rooms to villas with private pools and jacuzzis. Guest experiences here tend to vary. Highlights frequently mentioned include attentive and responsive staff, clean pools and restaurants, and food and beverage quality that meets European expectations. Some visitors have noted that certain areas of the property show visible signs of wear, including ageing finishes on exterior buildings, so travellers with high expectations for pristine facilities may want to review recent photos before booking. Families and groups appear to fare particularly well, with reports of room upgrades adding to the overall value of a stay. The surrounding Surin Beach area has a more low-key character than Patong, with a good selection of nearby restaurants and beach amenities without the intensity of the island's main nightlife strip. High season runs from November to February when weather conditions are most reliable; visiting between May and October typically means lower rates and fewer fellow guests, though some rain should be expected. Checking the resort's website directly for current packages and room categories is advisable before booking.

Visitor Reviews

My husband and I I stayed for two weeks as part of a large group and really enjoyed our stay! The staff cannot do enough for you, even when you call reception after midnight to get someone to remove a giant bug from your room (it flew in from outside). Really clean, new towels everyday, beautiful pool. Would recommend to anyone! The only thing we found is although there is the road outside with shops and restaurants and the beach at the end we did end up getting a lot of cabs to go do other things as not too much in walking distance.

Great Resort in good location. Food and beverages have European standards and everything is quite tasty. Pool, restaurants and rooms are very clean. The facilities are a bit outdated but the incredibly friendly staff compensates super easily. Everyone greets you with smile and welcomes you like family. A special shout-out to Anwar and Pekki from the Poolbar. Thank you so much for having us and making the stay unforgettable.

Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts

Book Shoulder Season

May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.

Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive

Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
