Mida Grande Resort Phuket

4.3(1,255 reviews)

Set in the quieter Thalang area of northern Phuket, this resort hotel sits close to Surin Beach, one of the island's more relaxed and upscale coastal stretches. It operates as a popular all-inclusive destination, with packages available through major tour operators including TUI, and the complex offers a range of accommodation from standard rooms through to villas with private pools and jacuzzis. Families and groups tend to do particularly well here, with room upgrades reported on arrival and staff consistently praised for attentiveness and willingness to assist at all hours.

Food and beverage quality meets European expectations, with clean poolside and restaurant facilities drawing positive mentions across guest reviews. That said, some areas of the property show visible signs of wear, including ageing exterior finishes and cosmetic deterioration on certain buildings, so travellers prioritising pristine surroundings should review recent photos before confirming a booking. The surrounding Surin Beach neighbourhood offers a more low-key alternative to Patong, with independent restaurants and beach amenities nearby and none of the intensity of the main nightlife strip.

High season runs from November to February, when weather is most reliable and the resort operates at fuller capacity. Visiting between May and October typically brings lower rates and a quieter atmosphere, though some rainfall should be expected. Booking directly through the resort website is worth checking alongside tour operator packages to compare current room categories and rates.

My husband and I I stayed for two weeks as part of a large group and really enjoyed our stay! The staff cannot do enough for you, even when you call reception after midnight to get someone to remove a giant bug from your room (it flew in from outside). Really clean, new towels everyday, beautiful pool. Would recommend to anyone! The only thing we found is although there is the road outside with shops and restaurants and the beach at the end we did end up getting a lot of cabs to go do other things as not too much in walking distance.

It's a great hotel.we've booker two deluxe rooms as we arę 2+2 family and where given a free upgrade to the villa with private pool and jacuzzi. It was awsome. Breakfasts are predicitable, thai food, european food,it' fine.next to the hotel od Teddy' s restaurant which od great, and definately worth visiting.

Hotel is generally shabby. Lots of plasterboard hanging off the ceilings or missing completely and a lot of mould growing on the outside concrete render on all the main buildings. The pedestrian paths are uneven and hard to walk on. The constant smell of cannabis from the staff living quarters and motorbike delivery people is terrible and should not be tolerated by staff or paying customers. The car park was very noisy for us in room 5307 with people revving their engines constantly. The swimming pools were run down with minimal furniture, cushions and umbrellas to protect from the sun. We counted 4 umbrellas for the WHOLE resort across all swimming pools. The Thai food from the restaurant was excellent. Anything else was questionable at best, to dangerous at worst. An example would have been the completely raw sausages served to my 4 year old son. This had to go back and be exchanged for a fresh sausage and be cooked. Another time the chicken tikka masala curry was microwaved and left most of it cold in the middle. This had to go back and be heated up to the point it was like eating lava. The pool side food service was terrible. One order for lunch was forgotten about with the waiter really having no clue as to what to do, where to go or how to take orders. This bar is severely understaffed, which makes service inadequate, at this point there were 7 members of staff in the almost empty restaurant, one member could easily have gone upstairs to help the pool service. The room 5307 was fine, not a lot wrong with it, the cleaning staff were EXCELLENT. The pillows were good but the bed was like sleeping on boxes. Not enough water is provided for a family of 4 during the daily room turndown service. The singing duo on a couple of nights were excellent and very enjoyable. The hotel is not 5 star. Its 3 at best. The staff were very friendly, sadly this does not counteract the rest of the rather poor hotel quality.
