VeeVaree Riverkwai Resort
Set along the banks of the Khwae Noi River in Sai Yok district, VeeVaree Riverkwai Resort offers a genuinely peaceful retreat in the heart of Kanchanaburi province. The riverside setting is a clear highlight, with certain room types offering direct river access and private jacuzzis, making it a popular choice for couples and families alike. The surrounding landscape is lush and unhurried, and guests consistently describe the experience of simply watching the river flow as one of the most relaxing aspects of their stay. Accommodation is spacious, clean, and well-equipped, with the natural environment doing much of the work in creating atmosphere. Families travelling with young children have found the resort well-suited to their needs, with a calm, balanced setting that avoids the noise and pace of more commercial properties. The resort works equally well as a standalone retreat or as a base for exploring wider Kanchanaburi attractions, including the Bridge on the River Kwai and the region's war history sites. Good to know: The resort is located in a rural stretch of Sai Yok district and is best reached by private vehicle or pre-arranged transfer, as public transport to this specific area is limited. The cooler, drier months from November to February offer the most comfortable conditions for a riverside stay. Booking in advance is advisable, particularly for river-facing rooms, which are in high demand during Thai public holidays and long weekends.

A Thoughtful, Peaceful Family Retreat at Veevaredeee Resort We stayed at Veevaredeee Resort as a family of five, with three young children, and overall, it was one of the most peaceful and well-balanced holidays we’ve had in a long time. The setting is the resort’s biggest strength — quiet, green, and tucked away from the noise and overdevelopment you often find in tourist-heavy areas. It’s ideal for families looking to switch off. Our villa was clean, spacious, and well-designed for privacy and comfort. Having a small plunge pool and outdoor space was a big bonus with kids, giving us flexibility to relax without needing to leave the room constantly. The staff were consistently polite and attentive, though not overbearing. They were happy to accommodate our requests — such as adjusting meal options for our children — and generally seemed well-trained in handling families with small children. There were small touches that made things easier, like a cot provided without asking, and safe walking paths throughout the resort. The food was fresh and simple. Breakfasts leaned more toward local offerings than continental, which we appreciated, though options were slightly limited after a few days. Still, everything we had was well-prepared. The beach area was clean and safe for the kids to play on, though it’s not ideal for swimming — more for wading or exploring. There are no large kids’ clubs or waterparks here, so it’s not the place if you’re looking for high-energy entertainment. But for families wanting to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy nature without distraction, it works very well. We left feeling rested, not exhausted — which says a lot when travelling with young children. It’s not luxury in the glossy, over-serviced sense, but it’s something rarer: peaceful, human, and well thought-out.
I have just spent 2 nights here with my wife and our young son and we are absolutely thrilled with the experience! This hotel is a real gem, nicely situated on the River Kwai Noi. It’s so peaceful and secluded and was a highlight of our short trip out of Bangkok. We stayed in one of the nine deluxe rooms that are situated on the riverside and felt like we were at one with nature, waking up to the calming sounds of the river flowing right beneath our floating pontoon which supports the rooms. The rooms themselves are very clean and spacious and come with all the usual amenities as well as a generous selection of complimentary drinks and snacks. Each room has a balcony that overlooks the river with chairs and a table as well as an outdoor bath! The grounds of the hotel are beautiful with well kept gardens and a swimming pool. The included breakfast was buffet style and; considering the size of the hotel and the few people staying there when we were there, offered a lovely selection to suit all palettes. We stayed only 2 nights and spent our one full day in the local area taking in some of the beautiful spots that Kanchanaburi has to offer - all within 45 minutes of this well located hotel. My only tip would be make sure you have a car as the nearest shop is about 10 minutes away, however if you’re here just to chill, the hotel offers everything you could need and has a restaurant that offers dinner in the late afternoon/evening. Overall we were delighted with our stay and couldn’t recommend this place enough! Only 2.5 hours drive from Bangkok, it’s truly a wonderful place to spend a few days to unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet. P.s a highlight for my wife was the stargazing we were able to do from our decking area in the evening, photo attached!
We had a wonderful stay at Veevaree Resort Kanchanaburi! The resort is peaceful and beautifully set along the river — our room had direct river access and a private jacuzzi, which made it extra special. The breakfast was simple. We didn’t have a car, so getting around was a bit tricky, but it’s definitely worth it once you’re there. One of the nicest touches was that dinner was delivered right to our room, so we could enjoy a relaxing meal with a river view. The staff were kind and helpful, though they don’t speak much English, but Google Translate worked perfectly and everyone was very accommodating. Overall, a perfect place for a quiet getaway — comfortable, scenic, and thoughtfully designed. Highly recommended for couples or anyone looking to unwind by the water.
Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts
Book Shoulder Season
May–June and September–October offer dramatic discounts (30–50% off peak rates) with fewer crowds. Weather is mixed but rarely a washout — afternoon showers clear quickly.
Compare OTAs and Direct Rates
Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
