Whoopers Hostel Chiang Mai
Whoopers Hostel stands out in Chiang Mai's accommodation scene thanks to its distinctive Harry Potter theme, pod-style dormitory rooms, and a consistently praised social atmosphere. The property is designed with care, offering guests a genuine sense of personal space within shared dorms — a step above typical hostel setups — alongside daily social activities and communal games that make solo travel feel less solitary. The hostel's staff, and in particular the manager Shivam, receive frequent mention in guest reviews for being exceptionally welcoming, attentive, and helpful with organising local activities. Bathrooms are cleaned daily, and the overall condition of the property reflects a newer, well-maintained space. The Chang Phueak location keeps guests within reach of Chiang Mai's Old City walls, Buddhist temples, and walking street markets, making it a practical base for cultural exploration. Good to know: Chiang Mai's peak season runs from November to February, when demand for accommodation rises sharply and prices follow. Booking directly through the hostel's website at whoopers.in is worth checking before using third-party platforms. The hostel suits independent travellers and backpackers who value a social environment and a central location, but those primarily seeking Chiang Mai's nightlife may prefer properties closer to the Nimman Road area.

Visitor Reviews
I had such a great time in Whoopers, the place is very cute, very new and the staff and Shivam (manager) are very sweet. I loved the fact that they had pod style dorm rooms, which would be still be a dorm accommodation but you have your private space too. I think that is sooo cooool! And they hostel wqs clean and Shivam is very very helpful in figuring out a plan of travels around chiang mai, he gave me so mang good suggestions that I actually followed and loved it truly, I can call thailand trip one of my bests, because of his suggestions. He is also very sweet and friendly. I also met al lot of really fun travellers which i connected with , and found the common space bustling alot of time. All in all couldnt have been a better experience. Location is little away from the centre, but it makes it even better cause its quieter around and you hae lots of hikes and stuff whichare actually closer to here than the centre.
I had an amazing stay at this hostel in Chiang Mai! The atmosphere is super warm and welcoming, and you feel at home right away. Shivam is an exceptional host — incredibly friendly, always attentive, and truly available whenever you need something. He gives great recommendations for activities, food spots, and places to visit. You can tell he really knows the city and genuinely wants every guest to have the best experience. Special shoutout to Laura as well, who organizes outings and creates great moments of sharing among travelers. Thanks to her, it’s so easy to meet new people and enjoy fun, memorable experiences. She brings awesome energy and really contributes to the family-like vibe of the place. Overall: a fantastic hostel in Chiang Mai where you feel welcomed and cared for. Highly recommended!
The space is beautifully designed - Harry Potter fans will especially love it! The sleeping area is spacious and very comfortable, with a real sense of personal space. The guy at the reception is super friendly, helpful, and gives great recommendations. The lockers are huge, they could almost be used as an extra capsule bed 😁 You should bring your lock 🙏🏼 There is a rooftop area where you can relax, smoke, or do yoga. Towels are not included, but you can rent one on site. The kitchen is very basic: fridge, microwave, and some dishes. One thing to keep in mind: it’s quite far from the city center.
