Kata Beach Viewpoint
Perched on the hills above Kata Beach in Phuket, this elevated viewpoint delivers sweeping panoramic views across the curved sandy beach, the Andaman Sea, and the surrounding coastline. It sits conveniently close to the Big Buddha statue, making it a natural pairing for visitors already heading up into the hills, and many stop here specifically to take in the dual perspective of Kata Beach and Phuket town visible from the same vantage point. The location draws photographers, couples, and casual sightseers alike, and has become a popular pre-wedding photography spot thanks to its dramatic coastal backdrop. Unlike a purely undeveloped lookout, this viewpoint has seating and a drinks offering, giving visitors a reason to linger rather than just pause for a photo. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal, and reviewers note that drinks are reasonably priced with plenty of seating to choose from. Vendors are also present during the day in the surrounding area. Good to know: The viewpoint pairs well with a visit to the nearby Big Buddha statue and can be worked into the same trip without significant detour. Late afternoon light tends to be flattering for photography, and the dry season running from November through February generally brings the clearest visibility across the coastline. Comfortable footwear is recommended as the terrain involves some uneven ground and elevation changes.

Visitor Reviews
If you’re visiting the Big Buddha, this is a must-visit restaurant, even if you’re not hungry and you just want to grab a drink. You won’t find a better view around, but we’re that not enough, the food is absolutely delicious and the service is outstanding. This was one of our premier dining experiences in Phuket, even though it’s simple fare, and I can’t recommend it enough. To get here, just take a 5-minute walk down the hill from the Big Buddha and you’ll be there in no time.
we recently shot some of the greatest shots of our pre-wedding song at Kata Beach Viewpoint in Phuket, Thailand. The view was absolutely breathtaking, with panoramic views of the beautiful Kata Beach and the surrounding areas. As we made our way up the winding road to the viewpoint, we were struck by the natural beauty of the area. When we arrived at the top, we were in awe of the stunning vistas that greeted us.
Excellent place to stop for drinks with a view on your way back from the Big Buddha statue. Good views of beaches and the city. Drinks are not overpriced and plenty of seating options.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
