Thai cooking lessons by miss Chel
Run by the highly regarded Miss Chel, this cooking school in Karon offers hands-on Thai culinary classes suitable for individuals, families, and large groups. Miss Chel is widely praised by visitors for her friendly teaching style and ability to make the experience both educational and genuinely entertaining, ensuring everyone in the group stays engaged throughout the session. Classes cover classic Thai dishes such as pad thai, tom yum soup, and mango sticky rice, with instruction that goes beyond technique to explain the cultural context and key ingredients behind each recipe. Groups have the flexibility to customise their menu, and the school caters well to various dietary requirements. The classes culminate in sitting down to eat everything prepared during the lesson, making it a satisfying culinary and social experience. Families with teenagers have found it a particularly good fit, as portions are generous and the relaxed atmosphere suits mixed groups. Good to know: The school operates seven days a week from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM, offering good scheduling flexibility. Classes are popular with group travellers, so booking in advance through the website at houseoftastecooking.com is strongly recommended, especially during peak season from November to February. If travelling by rideshare app such as Grab or Bolt, it is worth checking the exact drop-off point before heading out, as some visitors have noted this is helpful for navigating to the location.

Visitor Reviews
We came here in a group of 10, Chel was so funny and so nice, we got to learn the process of our dishes and made the experience fun and involving from all of us, the food was absolutely amazing! We had pad thai, tom yum, papaya salad and to finish mango sticky rice for dessert!. Was such a good experience. I definitely recommend this place and supporting local business is always a plus to the whole experience ! Was also able to communicate and organise this via WhatsApp from australia . THANK YOU CHEL
A great afternoon of cooking, chatting and experiencing Thai food whilst on holidays. We bought our kids along which was a good idea, as we cooked more than enough for ourselves and teenage kids! This is a very personalised class (not a large group). Chel was very kind to take us on a quick tour of the local Kata markets after our cooking. What a great way to learn and understand Thai cooking.
What a great and fun experience this was, we had pad thai, tom yum and mango sticky rice for our dessert, we came in a large group and it was fun and learnt a few things about some of the ingredients. Chel was very easy to communicate with prior to our booking and ensured she noted all of our dietary needs. Thank you to Chel and the team . big love from all the way from Australia

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
