Saphan Hin

4.5(5,542 reviews)

Saphan Hin is a sprawling public park on the western edge of Phuket Town, offering a relaxed alternative to the island's busier beaches and tourist hubs. The park sits along the coast, delivering open sea views alongside a Chinese temple, landscaped garden grounds, shaded walkways, and sports and playground facilities. Its local character is a genuine draw — the surrounding community is largely of Chinese origin, giving the site a distinct cultural flavour reflected in the temple and the atmosphere throughout. Visitors can expect a calm, unhurried environment popular with locals for morning exercise, casual strolling, and leisure time. The shaded paths wind through mature trees, making it a comfortable spot even in warmer weather, while the coastal position keeps the air fresh. It draws families, joggers, and those simply looking for a quiet place to sit and take in the scenery away from the main tourist strip. Good to know: The park is best enjoyed in the early morning or late afternoon, when the heat is manageable and local activity is at its most lively. There are no specified opening hours listed, but as an open public space it is generally accessible during daylight. If visiting the Chinese temple within the grounds, dress modestly out of respect, covering shoulders and knees.

Visitor Reviews

My absolute favourite of the parks in Phuket. This place has everything and more. Friendly locals, amazing ocean views, a Buddhist Temple and beautiful garden grounds. You should definitely go there for Loy Krathong celebrations. That week was an amazing experience. There is also a curry place next to it, which is favoured by the locals. It's an amazing place with good food and friendly staff.

Peacefull place with sea panorama. You can hide on the shadow and relax in a park. There is also path walk around muggy trees ? - better than I described :)

Nice scenery, breathing some fresh air in the morning. This place isn’t too crowded like other beaches, just the only one in the city.

Tips for Visiting Temples & Culture

Dress Modestly

Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.

Mind Your Feet

Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.

Ask Before Photographing

Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
