Kata Night Market
Situated on Thanon Taina in the Karon district of Phuket, Kata Night Market is a popular open-air marketplace drawing both locals and tourists with its relaxed atmosphere and wide variety of food stalls, fresh produce, and drinks. Open every day from noon until 11pm, it offers far more flexibility than many of Phuket's weekend-only markets, making it a convenient evening destination for anyone staying in the Kata or Karon area. Food is the main draw here. Visitors can browse stalls serving freshly made Thai dishes, crispy prawns, coconut ice cream, and tropical fruits, alongside seafood options and cocktail bars with live music adding to the atmosphere. Reviewers frequently highlight the coconut-based treats and fried snacks as standout bites worth seeking out. While most vendors offer good value, it is worth checking prices at seafood stalls before ordering, as some visitors have found certain sellers less straightforward on pricing than others. For those who find larger Phuket markets such as the Sunday Walking Street in Old Town overwhelming, Kata Night Market offers a more manageable and less crowded alternative without sacrificing variety or atmosphere. Arriving in the early evening tends to give the best experience, when stalls are fully set up and the area comes alive with music and foot traffic.

Visitor Reviews
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Kata Night Market is a lively and enjoyable place to visit in the evening, especially if you’re staying around the Kata area. There are many food stalls with a wide variety of choices, including halal options, making it convenient for Muslim travellers as well. Prices are generally reasonable, and it’s a great spot to try local street food, snacks, drinks, and desserts. The atmosphere is busy, colourful, and full of energy, giving you a nice night market experience without having to travel far. It can get quite crowded during peak hours, so seating may be limited, but overall it’s a nice place for casual food hunting and soaking in the local vibe.
A fantastic, relaxed alternative to the Sunday Old Town Market! We loved Kata Night Market because it was much less crowded and easier to navigate than the Sunday market in Phuket Town. Despite being quieter, it still offers a huge variety of delicious food stalls and plenty of shops for clothes and souvenirs. Tip: Be sure to barter! You can get some great deals on the merchandise if you negotiate. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area and want a more chilled-out shopping and dining experience.
My hotel is right in the heart of Kata Night Market, and it’s an amazing place to explore. Tons of delicious food options, fresh fruit, ice cream, drinks, bars, entertainment, and great music. I really enjoyed the chicken dumplings and the baked potatoes. Fun atmosphere and lots to try. A must-visit spot. Highly recommended.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
