Merlin Divers
Based in Kamala on Phuket's west coast, Merlin Divers runs guided dive trips and structured certification courses for all experience levels, from first-timers completing their Open Water qualification to seasoned divers exploring sites like Racha Yai, Phi Phi, and Shark Point. The centre also stocks and sells diving and sporting equipment, making it a practical one-stop resource for divers arriving without their own gear. The atmosphere is organised and professional without feeling rigid. Instructors lead small groups and are noted by visitors for their attentiveness, clear communication, and willingness to accommodate nervous or returning divers. Underwater video and photography assistance is available on some trips, giving divers a way to document their experience. Courses run across multiple days and cover a structured progression from open water to advanced levels, while day trips cater to those looking to dive without committing to a full course. Good to know: The centre is open every day from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, which allows for flexible scheduling. The best diving conditions around Phuket typically fall between November and April, when seas are calmer and underwater visibility is at its clearest — booking ahead during this period is advisable. Those already certified should bring their dive card, and anyone starting a course should factor in several days for completion. The Kamala location sits outside the busiest tourist strips, providing relatively easy access to departure points without the congestion of central Phuket areas. Visit the website at phuket-diving-thailand.net for current trip schedules and course availability.

Visitor Reviews
I had a great Dive Experience on Racha Yai with the Merlin Divers. I had an amazing Master Diver Pae, who organized everything from start to finish. He also took some really good underwater Videos and Pictures. We swam through a school of Baraccudas. Will definitely have to try Phi Phi islands next with Merlin.
Fantastic Diving Experience with Merlin Divers and Instructor Pae My husband and I joined Merlin Divers for three day trips, and everything was exceptionally well organized from start to finish. Our dive instructor Pae made each day truly memorable. He is incredibly experienced, friendly, and professional. Before every dive – three per trip – Pae had all our equipment fully prepared so we could gear up comfortably and head straight into the water. It made the whole experience smooth and relaxing. Our trips took us to Racha Noi & Racha Yai, then to Shark Point, King Cruiser Wreck and Koh Dok Mai, and finally to Phi Phi Island and Shark Point. Pae knows these dive sites inside out and guided us to the most beautiful spots. We were lucky enough to see: • a bamboo shark • blacktip reef sharks • a stunning seahorse • countless colorful anemones with anemonefish and clownfish • parrotfish, moray eels, lionfish, • and so much more vibrant marine life Every dive was a highlight. Thanks to the excellent organization by Merlin Divers and Pae’s outstanding guidance, we had an unforgettable diving experience. Highly recommended – and a special thank you to Pae for his care, expertise, and enthusiasm.
I just completed my Open Water course with Merlin Divers Phuket, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From start to finish, the team was fantastic. The instructor Audrey provided incredible personal attention, making sure I felt comfortable, confident, and supported at every stage of the course. Everything was handled in a highly professional way, with a strong focus on being safe while still keeping the experience fun and relaxed. The dives themselves were truly exciting, and I never once felt rushed or overlooked. If you’re thinking about learning to dive—especially if it’s your first time—I highly recommend Merlin Divers Phuket. An unforgettable introduction to the underwater world!

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
