Trail up to Kuan Nom Saow viewpoint

4.9(285 reviews)

The reward here isn't just the view, it's the food. Get to the top of this hill in Khao Thong and there's a small restaurant serving Thai dishes at prices that seem like a mistake. People rave about the massaman with tofu and the green curry, and a Thai tea while you look out over jungle-covered hills is about as good as a mid-trip breather gets in Krabi. There's a garden to wander round afterwards, which is more than most viewpoints bother with.

The way up is the catch. The trail is steep and uneven, with sandy patches where a scooter's back wheel can slide out from under you. Confident riders treat it as part of the fun. If you're not one, park lower down and walk the last stretch. Nobody will think less of you. The restaurant fills at busy times and a ten-minute wait for a table isn't unusual, so go early if you'd rather not queue in the heat.

Such a beautiful viewpoint! 🌄 There’s a small restaurant where you can enjoy a Thai tea or a nice meal while admiring the stunning mountain view. The place also has a lovely garden to walk around after your drink. Not a difficult spot to reach — you can drive almost all the way up with your scooter.

Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours

Vet Elephant Sanctuaries

Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.

Book Popular Activities Online

Booking platforms like GetYourGuide give you instant confirmation and, on many activities, free cancellation — and you can read recent reviews before committing. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.

Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning

Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
