Thai town of elephant krabi (กระบี่เมืองช้างไทย)
Situated in Nong Thale outside Krabi town, this elephant sanctuary offers visitors a hands-on encounter with resident elephants in a setting that visibly prioritises animal welfare. The elephants are relaxed and well-socialised, and the care shown by staff is consistently noted by visitors as a defining part of the experience. Individual elephants have their own personalities and, in some cases, names — adding a personal dimension that sets this apart from more impersonal animal attractions. Activities include feeding, bathing, and mud spa sessions with the elephants, giving visitors meaningful contact rather than passive observation. The facility is well-organised and maintained, and the staff are described as attentive and welcoming — including to spontaneous, unplanned visits. Families with children tend to find the experience particularly rewarding, and the atmosphere leans toward relaxed and educational rather than performative. Good to know: The sanctuary is responsive to enquiries and can accommodate last-minute bookings, though advance contact is still recommended during Krabi's peak tourist season, roughly November through April. Wear clothes you do not mind getting wet or muddy, as bathing activities involve close contact with the elephants and water. Closed-toe shoes are practical for the grounds. Sun protection and insect repellent are worth bringing, as most activities take place outdoors.

Visitor Reviews
We had an amazing experience at this elephant sanctuary! This place truly cares about the elephants, and you can feel it from the moment you arrive. The elephants are well-treated, relaxed, and free to roam in a natural environment. We joined the activity where you can walk with the elephants, feed them, and bathe them, and it was honestly one of the highlights of our trip to Krabi. Getting that close to these gentle giants felt very special and unforgettable. The caretakers were fantastic. Extremely friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. They spoke excellent English and explained everything about the elephants’ personalities, diets, behavior, and history. We learned so many interesting facts and could ask any questions we wanted. Their passion and love for the animals really stood out. Bathing the elephants in the river and seeing how happy they were splashing around was such a fun and heartwarming moment. It never felt rushed, and the whole experience was very natural and respectful. If you’re visiting Krabi and want an ethical, meaningful elephant experience, I highly recommend this place. Wonderful people, happy elephants, and memories you’ll never forget. Highly recommended Definitely a 5-star experience! 🌿🐘💚
They responded to our message almost immediately when we decided on a spontaneous visit to see the elephants 🐘 From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by warm, kind people and very friendly elephants. The whole experience felt genuine and thoughtfully organized. What stood out most was the clear respect and care for the animals. The staff shared impressive knowledge about elephants in general and about each individual elephant living there. It truly felt like the elephants were comfortable and well looked after. A special thank you to Ohmmar and Zaw for taking such good care of us. You were enthusiastic, open and attentive throughout our visit, and you answered all our questions with patience and clarity. Your English was excellent, which made everything easy and enjoyable 😊 All in all, a wonderful experience we will never forget. Such warm and positive energy ❤️ Greetings from Caroline and Lars, Norway 🇳🇴
You can truly tell that the elephants are well taken care of here. The staff treat them with such kindness and respect, which made the whole experience even more meaningful. The place is very clean, and they even provide fresh towels for showering after bathing with the elephants – such a thoughtful touch! Walking alongside and bathing with the elephants was not only fun, but also unforgettable. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for an ethical and joyful elephant experience!
Tips for Visiting Activities & Tours
Vet Elephant Sanctuaries
Only visit sanctuaries that prohibit riding, use no chains or bullhooks, and let elephants roam freely. Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai set the standard. If a place offers painting shows or circus tricks, walk away.
Book Through Klook or GetYourGuide
These platforms offer instant confirmation, free cancellation on most activities, and prices that are often lower than walk-up rates. Compare with local agencies for multi-day trips where negotiation might save more.
Do Outdoor Activities in the Morning
Heat and humidity peak from noon to 3 PM. Schedule jungle treks, cycling tours, and outdoor cooking classes for early morning. Water activities are more flexible since you're in and out of the sea.
