- On the hill road above Maret, about 3 km from Lamai Beach. The road is paved but very steep near the top; take a Grab or a taxi if you're not confident on a scooter.
- From the parking area it's about 500 m on foot and a suspension bridge to the rock.

Why go, and how to do it well
This is the original Overlap Stone, now signed Overlap Stone Camp View, a balanced boulder on the hill above Maret about 3 km from Lamai Beach. From the parking area it's a walk of about 500 m and a suspension bridge out to the rock, and the view runs down over Lamai and the east coast. It's a private paid viewpoint, not a temple.
Entry is about ฿300 a person in recent reports, up from ฿200 earlier in 2026, with a soft drink included and parking free. It's open 08:00 to 18:00. The road up is paved but very steep near the top, so ride down slowly if you come by scooter, or take a Grab or a taxi. Get there by 9 or 10 in the morning, before the crowds and the heat build.
Two warnings. Parts of the route have no railings, so watch children closely. And two young elephants are kept on chains in a small enclosure on the way up as a paid feeding add-on, which I'd skip.
The higher Overlap Stone 2, run as The Best Samui, has been reported closed since a forestry raid in July 2026, so this is the one to plan on for now.
