May Kaidee Cooking School Chiang Mai

May Kaidee runs vegan restaurants and cooking schools in Bangkok and Chiang Mai, and this is the pick on this list if you don't eat meat, because every dish is vegan. Classes are taught at 13 Charoen Muang Road, Soi 2, east of the Old City across the river, which is a different address from the May Kaidee restaurant on Chang Moi Kao Road.

The main Thai cooking class starts at 09:00 or 14:00 and runs about four hours. The morning menu is set, with peanut sauce, tom yum, tom kha, pad thai, massaman and a red or green curry, and in Chiang Mai you also make red, green and tom yam chili pastes, with mango sticky rice to finish. The afternoon class can swap in a custom set of recipes. A shorter express class at 15:00 covers three recipes and a dessert. You take home a booklet of course notes.

The school is open Monday to Saturday from 09:00 to 18:00 and closed on Sundays. Prices are only on the booking form, in US dollars, at $50 for the main class and $30 for the express class. There's no hotel pickup, and the school is a short ride from Tha Phae Gate.
