The Good View Bar & Restaurant
Sitting on the banks of the Ping River, this popular Thai restaurant and bar draws a lively crowd of locals and travellers alike for evening dining with genuine atmosphere. The combination of riverside views, a wide-ranging Thai food menu, and nightly live music creates a high-energy setting that sets it apart from quieter city-centre options. The menu is extensive, with multiple food menus alongside a dedicated drinks list, giving groups plenty to work with. Guests can expect a buzzing, crowded environment most evenings, with good food arriving quickly and a vibrant social atmosphere. The Thai cuisine is the main draw, and dishes are generally well-regarded by visitors. The riverside setting comes into its own after dark, when the view of the water at night adds real character to the experience. Pricing sits at the mid-range level, which reflects the atmosphere and location rather than just the food alone. A few practical points worth knowing: reservations are not always necessary, as walk-ins have been seated even during busy periods, though arriving early is sensible. Parking is available directly opposite the venue for around 50 baht, making it accessible for those travelling by car or scooter. The restaurant opens at 5pm every night and stays open until 1am, so it works equally well as a dinner spot or a later-evening venue. Communication with staff can occasionally require patience, so using a translation app for specific requests is a helpful precaution.

Visitor Reviews
Lovely restaurant with great ambience. The live music was incredible and the energy was palpable. Various fun spot if you’re looking for a high energy fun place to hang with friends or family. The menu has a nice mix of traditional Thai food and western food and surprise, also sushi. I would say the food was pretty good just not exceptional, but I would definitely go back because the music and energy was really nice in the spot.
When we visited was very busy but we got a table without reservation. Food was good service was good. It is slightly on the pricey side but you are right on the river so nice atmosphere. They had live music all in all good experience.
Food was 9/10, stir fried cabbage was a little salty but otherwise alright. The view was definitely great. And if you’re driving, there is a parking space right opposite for 50baht.

Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
