Makkha Health & Spa Chiang Mai (Ancient House)
Set within a restored traditional Thai house in the Si Phum neighbourhood of Chiang Mai's old city, this spa offers a distinctly atmospheric alternative to modern wellness facilities. The historic architecture creates a sense of place that feels genuinely rooted in northern Thai culture, and the venue has received recognition for both its interior design and the quality of its treatments. Signature offerings include oil massages and the four-hand aroma oil massage, where two therapists work simultaneously using aromatic oils that visitors frequently single out for praise. The experience extends well beyond the treatment room. Guests are welcomed with tea and cookies on arrival, and hotel pickup is available for those who prefer a seamless door-to-door visit. Post-treatment touches such as mango sticky rice round out an approach to hospitality that reviewers consistently describe as attentive from start to finish. Therapists are noted for skilled, professional technique that balances firmness with care, and the overall atmosphere is considered genuinely tranquil — well suited to unwinding after a full day of sightseeing. Good to know: the spa is open every day from 10 AM to 11 PM, which gives visitors flexibility to schedule either a morning session or a late evening treatment. Pricing sits at the higher end for Chiang Mai, though visitors generally consider the quality reflective of the cost. Advance booking is recommended, particularly during peak travel periods. Full details on packages and treatment options are available on the spa's website.

Visitor Reviews
A real retreat for ladies after several hours of flight, a whole day of tour, sight seeking and shopping in Colourful Chengmai. The spa’s receptionist made easy for foreign English speaking clients as they communicated well on the services they rendered. The massage room was comfortable suitable for muslim ladies. The massage therapist services was a real mental relaxation , wellness which destress the tired body and be ready for the next day trip and advanture. Their fee was not harmful to my purse for 90 minutes treatment including foot massage and i was grateful they accepted credit card. Booking the spa time is recommended and tips to the therapist is in cash only.
Everything about this place was great - the quality of the massage (even oil massage was intence enough but just touching) , oils smelled amazing! It is quite expensive but you definitely see the diference in quality, cosmetics etc. I good lavender scrub and orange cinnamon massage. And when i thought it cannot be better, i god mango sticky rice at the end - mniam! Also the house is beautiful!
This place is amazing! No wonder it has so many prizes. I went alone and I got a room with shower and spa but the bathtub is only for spa package. I had the 4 hand aroma oil. Both therapists were so professional. 80% their movement are sync. They have Tesla for hotel pick up if your order is more than THB1000. Will definitely come back and remember to book online! Easiest is from their website.

Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas
Learn Wat Pho First
Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.
Communicate Pressure Preferences
Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.
Book Longer Sessions
A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
