Pattay Pier

4.5(35 reviews)

Pattaya Pier serves as the primary departure point for travellers heading to Koh Larn, also known as Coral Island, one of the most popular day-trip destinations from Pattaya. The pier handles two ferry routes serving different points on Koh Larn, giving travellers some flexibility depending on their destination on the island. The waiting area features concrete seating and a backdrop bearing the "Pattaya City" signage, which visitors frequently use for photos before departure. Two transport options are available from the pier. The standard public ferry costs 30 Baht per person and takes approximately 45 to 50 minutes to reach Koh Larn, making it the more economical choice. Speedboats are also available at around 150 Baht one way, cutting the journey to roughly 10 minutes for those who prefer a faster crossing. Reviewers generally recommend the ferry for comfort and value, and note that the upper deck offers better views and a more pleasant ride. Tickets are not purchased in advance at a booth — passengers pay directly at the vessel before boarding. It is advisable to confirm your change after paying, as this has been noted by visitors as something to watch. Sea conditions can vary, so travellers prone to motion sickness may want to factor in the ferry's longer travel time when choosing between options. No specific operating hours are listed, so arriving with buffer time before a planned departure is a sensible approach.

Visitor Reviews

The Pattaya pier connects us to the Koh Larn/ coral islands. The wait area is beautiful with concrete seating options. The backdrop of “Pattaya city” name makes for great pictures for memories. Even the backdrop of boats and ships on the vast green sea at the pier makes for wonderful memories captured in a photograph.

A very nice ferry service. costs only 30 Baht per person. the trip to Koh Larn takes around 50 minutes. Make sure you stay on the second floor as it is more comfortable and you will get the best views. Highly recommended.

Abt 45 mins ride to na baan with a bit adverse seas on ferry 30B. Speedboat 10mins 150B one way

Tips for Visiting Transportation

Take the Sleeper Train at Least Once

The Bangkok-to-Chiang Mai overnight train in a second-class sleeper berth is a bucket-list experience. Book at least a week ahead via 12Go.asia or at Hua Lamphong station. Upper berths are cheaper and have more headroom; lower berths have a window.

Use Grab Everywhere

Grab is the Uber of Southeast Asia and works across Thailand for cars, motorbike taxis, and even tuk-tuks in some cities. It eliminates haggling and provides fare estimates upfront. Load a Thai SIM or use eSIM to stay connected.

Rent Scooters Carefully

Always photograph the scooter's existing damage before riding off, and keep your passport — give a photocopy instead (some shops insist on the original; avoid these). Wear a helmet; police fine 500 THB for no helmet and accidents without one void insurance.
