Krabi to Koh Tao

Lomprayah has four departures a day from its office in Krabi town. The 08:00 and 11:30 take a coach to the Gulf and the catamaran on via Nathon on Samui and Phangan, landing at Mae Haad at 14:15 and 17:45 for ฿1,300. The 09:30 meets a speedboat and lands at 16:00 for ฿1,400, and the 13:00 Direct speedboat lands at 18:00 for ฿1,600, the latest start and the quickest boat. The booking sites sell the two speedboats under the name Lomlahkkhirin, which is the same service.

If you're staying in town, the coach collects you for ฿100 more from fixed points such as the pier, the Walking Street area and the night market. The same ticket stops at Samui or Phangan if you'd rather break the trip.

Surat Thani is only about 155 km from Krabi, so you can spend the day on the beach and still sleep on the way. Vans leave Krabi Bus Terminal for Surat Thani town through the day, about 3 hours for ฿225–305, and the 15:00 departures, in town by about 18:00, are the safe last ones. From Ao Nang, afternoon vans leave at about 15:00 to 16:00 and reach town by about 18:30, for ฿244–338. The night boat leaves the Ban Don riverfront at 21:00 and lands at Mae Haad at about 05:00 to 06:00, with mattresses on an open deck, for about ฿770–1,040.

The booking sites sell the van and night boat together, leaving Krabi or Ao Nang between about 14:30 and 16:30, for about ฿850–1,750. It's the cheapest way across, and you arrive before the day boats. Our Surat Thani to Koh Tao guide has more on the night boat.

Bangkok Airways flies Krabi to Samui once a day in October and November, at 13:45, landing at 14:30, with a second flight at 18:25 from mid-December, for about ฿4,800. The 13:45 lands too late to plan on the afternoon boats to Koh Tao, so flying only makes sense if you want a night on Samui first. Our Krabi to Koh Samui guide has the flight and the boats.

Going back, Lomprayah's 07:05 speedboat reaches its Krabi office at 13:00 for ฿1,400, the 09:30 catamaran at 15:30 for ฿1,300, and the 11:00 Direct speedboat at 16:00 for ฿1,600. The 09:30 also drops at Krabi town hotels at 15:30 or Ao Nang hotels at 16:30 for ฿1,450, and Railay at 18:00 for ฿1,700. Boonsiri leaves at 08:00 and reaches its Krabi office at 14:30 and Ao Nang at 15:30 for ฿1,300, and Railay East at 16:30 for ฿1,700. Songserm's 11:30 boat and van reaches Krabi Bus Terminal at about 17:30.

The night boat back leaves Mae Haad in the evening and connects with vans that reach Krabi, Ao Nang and Railay between about 07:00 and 10:30 the next morning, for about ฿850–1,500.
