Passa

4.8(833 reviews)

Passa is a fine dining and fusion restaurant tucked into the quieter Mae Nam area of Koh Samui, drawing a loyal following with an ambitious menu that spans Italian dishes, Thai classics, fresh seafood, and Asian fusion. Standout plates from visitors include sea bass, wagyu, crab ravioli, calamari, and Massaman curry, while the cocktail and wine offering adds to its appeal as an evening destination. The kitchen operates in an open-plan setup, adding a sense of theatre to the dining room, and the atmosphere is consistently described as cozy and welcoming. The service is a consistent highlight, with staff noted for being attentive without being overbearing. The broad menu means Passa suits a range of occasions, from a leisurely brunch through to a special dinner, and the fusion approach does mean that individual dishes can vary in execution, so ordering from the kitchen's strengths — the grilled meats and fresh seafood in particular — tends to reward diners most. Good to know: Passa opens at 7:30 AM every day and stays open until 11:00 PM, making it one of the more flexible dining options in the area for both early risers and late diners. The Mae Nam location sits away from the busier southern and eastern coasts of Koh Samui, so the pace here is noticeably more relaxed. Checking the current menu or making a reservation through their website at passa-samui.com is recommended, especially during peak season when tables fill quickly in the evenings.

Visitor Reviews

This is one of the best restaurants we have been to in Thailand 🇹🇭 and I base this purely on taste, service and value for money. The service is attentive without being pushy the food is fresh and perfectly prepared whether your having a snack or something for lunch or a two course dinner. I’ve read reviews saying it’s expensive, to me it great value for money for freshly cooked food. If you want cheaper food it’s available along the beach that’s fine, we have done this also, but if you want something a bit special here is the place. 😀

I had a wonderful dining experience at this Italian restaurant. The steak was perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, and full of flavor, served with crispy fries and a rich, well-balanced sauce. The vegetables were fresh and beautifully prepared, adding great color and taste to the plate. Everything was presented thoughtfully and tasted even better than it looked. The quality of ingredients and attention to detail really stood out. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a satisfying and well-prepared Italian meal!😚

The best dinner I’ve had in Thailand. The service was outstanding, the sea bass and the wagyu were exceptional, the calamari starter and the crab ravioli were absolutely perfect, and paired with the Italian wine recommended by the restaurant, it was an unforgettable experience.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
