Sala Thai at Santiburi
Nestled within the Santiburi resort on the quieter northern shore of Koh Samui, Sala Thai offers a refined take on Thai cuisine in an atmosphere that visitors consistently describe as beautifully decorated and genuinely lovely. The restaurant draws guests looking for something beyond the standard beachside fare, delivering carefully presented dishes in a setting that feels both elegant and relaxed. The menu leans into traditional Thai flavours with a considered touch. Standout dishes highlighted by visitors include the vegetarian Massaman curry with jackfruit, shiitake dumplings, and a range of starters served tapas-style that have drawn particular praise. Presentation is taken seriously here, with dishes arriving as finished as the surroundings. Staff are noted for their friendliness and attentiveness, contributing to an experience that feels unhurried and well-looked-after from start to finish. Sala Thai operates exclusively for dinner, opening every day from 18:00 to 22:00, so there is no option for lunch visits. Given the restaurant's setting within a resort property and its strong reputation among visitors, booking ahead is advisable, especially during peak season on the island. Maenam Beach sits on the calmer northern coast, making it a pleasant destination for those willing to travel a little further from the busier southern resorts. Visitor Reviews
Wonderful experience from start to finish !! The staff were incredible , the food delightful and the atmosphere lovely
Lovely tasty food and good service. Lovely decorated, would come again
I normally don’t write reviews, but this place absolutely deserves one. If you’re in Koh Samui, this is a must-visit. Hands down the best Thai food experience I’ve had on the island – maybe even anywhere in Thailand. Every dish was bursting with authentic flavors, perfectly balanced, and clearly prepared with real passion and skill. You can taste the quality in every bite. The atmosphere, the service, and the attention to detail made the whole experience unforgettable. Nothing felt touristy or rushed – just genuine Thai cuisine at its absolute best. If you’re even remotely serious about food, do not miss this place. I would come back to Koh Samui just to eat here again.—-

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
