Pae Mai Food Garden
Pae Mai Food Garden is a popular open-air food court in central Hua Hin where multiple vendors gather under one roof to offer a wide variety of Thai dishes and drinks at wallet-friendly prices. The format suits groups with different tastes — guests order from individual stalls and settle into communal seating, making it a relaxed, unhurried way to sample several dishes in a single sitting. Live music adds to the evening atmosphere, with seating available away from the band for those who prefer a quieter table and easy conversation. The venue draws a loyal local crowd alongside visitors, which speaks to the quality and value on offer. Reviewers consistently highlight the variety of food and drink options, reasonable prices, and the fact that tables are generally easy to come by even on busier nights. Tuesday evenings appear to be a particularly lively time to visit. Good to know: This is a casual, come-as-you-are setting — no reservations or dress code required. One recurring note from visitors is that the no-smoking rule, while posted throughout the venue, is not always enforced, which may be a consideration for some diners. As specific opening hours are not confirmed, arriving during typical Thai dinner hours between 5pm and 9pm is the safest approach to ensure the full range of stalls is operating.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
