Thai Food Resto

4.7(1,010 reviews)

Tucked into a quiet soi off Singharat Road in the Si Phum district, this Thai restaurant sits within easy walking distance of Chiang Mai's Old City, making it a natural stop for travellers exploring the historic centre. It draws a loyal following of both locals and visitors, with standout dishes including khao soi, massaman curry, and morning glory — the latter arriving in notably generous portions with garlic and chilli. The atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious, suited to a casual meal rather than a formal dining occasion. The menu centres on traditional Thai cooking, and reviewers frequently praise the depth of flavour and balance across dishes. Portions are consistently described as large and well-priced. Some visitors have noted inconsistency between dishes — the khao soi earns particular praise, while less traditional options have drawn mixed feedback — so sticking to Thai classics appears to be the stronger choice. The kitchen also accommodates vegetarian preferences, which have received positive mentions. Good to know: The restaurant opens daily at 11:00 AM and closes at 9:00 PM, seven days a week — a reliable option regardless of your travel schedule. Service can become disorganised during busy periods, with some diners reporting delays and occasional mix-ups with orders. Arriving before noon for lunch or before 6:00 PM for dinner is a practical way to avoid the busiest sittings. No website is listed, so walk-in appears to be the only option. Carrying cash is advisable, as card acceptance has not been confirmed.

Visitor Reviews

Fabulous! Lovely staff and great food. Morning glory portions super generous and liked the chilli added as well as garlic. Massaman curry delicious- compared to others we’ve tried this curry had a stronger coconut flavour and less intense peanut flavour. So good and nice level of spice. Two of us shared both dishes with rice and were stuffed. Highly recommend and price great too.

This is the absolute best restaurant in chiang mai! The food tastes absolutely amazing. Every single meal I ate there was so rich in flavour and looked amazing. Plus they have an amazing variety of vegetarian meals. And to add to that, the entire staff is so very friendly and kind. A must if you come to chiang mai!

Big portions and absolutely delicious food. Everything is perfectly balanced — not salty and not spicy at all. Very pleasant atmosphere and a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. Highly recommended!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
