Krua Apsorn's dining room on Dinso Road looks like a canteen and cooks like a palace — the founder cooked for members of the royal household, and the menu keeps that refined old-Bangkok register at lunch-counter prices. Two dishes made it famous: the pillowy crab omelette, folded around an extravagance of crab meat, and the stir-fried crab with yellow chilli paste that appears on half the tables. Beyond the crab, the green curry, stink-bean stir-fries and southern-style dishes reward the second visit the first one always inspires. The location is a gift to sightseers: five minutes from the Giant Swing and Wat Suthat, ten from the Grand Palace cluster, making it the definitive old-city lunch between temples. The room fills with a mix of civil servants, neighbourhood regulars and food travellers clutching the same two-dish order. Good to know: lunch is the meal here — the Dinso Road original keeps daytime hours and can sell out of crab dishes; arrive before the noon rush or after 13:30. Portions share well, prices are gentle for what lands on the table, and the crab omelette really is worth its reputation.
