Pad Thai Fai Ta Lu (Dinso Rd)

4.1(1,634 reviews)

This dedicated pad thai shop on Dinso Road in Bangkok's Phra Nakhon district holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition, drawing a mix of local food enthusiasts and visitors seeking a well-regarded version of Thailand's most iconic noodle dish. The kitchen keeps its focus narrow, doing one thing with care — the pad thai topped with crispy fried pork slices is a standout that visitors frequently single out. The setup is casual and unpretentious, with seating spread across multiple levels. First-time visitors sometimes find the ground floor quiet or empty and should head upstairs, where the main dining area is. The atmosphere fits comfortably within Bangkok's street food culture while offering a more consistent, sit-down experience than a roadside stall. Prices reflect the Michelin recognition — some dishes reach 500 baht — so visitors should expect to pay a modest premium over typical street food options. Good to know: the restaurant is open every day from 10am to midnight, making it a practical stop whether visiting the nearby temples and landmarks of the old city during the day or looking for a late dinner. Lunchtime tends to be quieter, which usually means shorter waits and a more relaxed meal. The Dinso Road location sits within easy reach of several major cultural sites in central Bangkok, making it a convenient addition to a day of sightseeing in the area.

Visitor Reviews

We came here on a Monday evening after friends recommended it, and it totally lived up to the hype. The vibe is really cool – at first we were confused why there was nobody downstairs, but then we went upstairs and found a big, lively seating area. Unfortunately the pork belly was sold out (we really wanted to try it), so we went for the BBQ Iberian Pork and the BBQ lychee-fed chicken instead, and we definitely didn’t regret it. The Pad Thai with the lychee-fed chicken (250 THB) was so incredibly good that, after we finished everything, we actually ordered a second plate – and we never do that. It’s worth every single baht. For us, this was the best food we had during our days in Bangkok: intense flavours, but on a real next level. They also serve their own beer, which is a nice bonus. If we’re ever back in Bangkok, we’ll 100% come here again.

They serve the prime authenthic Pad Thai. One of the best I have tasted, freshly made and delighted my taste buds. Beyond the best! My ultimate favorite was fried pork slices on top of the noodles. Visited in 2023 & 2024. This store is my go to whenever I crave for Pad Thai. Savory dishes where every bite is perfection. The service is excellent. Highly recommended.

Well this is ome of the Michelin Bib Gourmand places recommended in Bangkok and I am a fan of Pad Thai so I thought I should give it a try. Visited during lunchtime it was pretty quiet with not many customers. Had a look at the menu and stared at it very long before deciding because I had hard time coming to terms with Pad Thai with no prawns! There was one with dish but seems like most of it are with pork, so I decided to be a bit experimental and give it a try and ordered the Iberico Smoked BBQ Pork. Took quite some time before the dish was served. In the meantime, had to endure the cold air conditioning as well and the low light which almost kept hitting my forehead. Two pages of beverages but only a few items available. Ended up ordering the longan juice and would say it's pretty good. Soon the noodles came. A little disappointed by the portion size but still decided to give it a try. Have to say it exceeded my expectations didn't know the pork could be so well cooked and it's such a good combination with Pad Thai. Food was good and satisfying, enjoyed everything except for the portion. For the taste there was nothing I could fault and now I won't see prawn as the mandatory ingredient to go along with Pad Thai anymore. Definitely worth a visit to give it a try.

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food

Learn the Spice Scale

Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.

Follow the Crowds

The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.

Ice Is Safe

Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
