Hiddenwoods is the café to aim for on a day in Bang Kachao, the loop of plantations, canals and mangroves in a bend of the Chao Phraya that Bangkok calls its green lung. It sits on the riverbank in Bang Nam Phueng under a canopy of trees, with decks over the water, a riverside bar, a three-story building with views and a glass house used for events. The food is Thai, Chinese and Western, and the drinks are what you would expect of a city café, at city prices, with an iced latte around ฿110.
Getting there is part of the day. Boats cross from Wat Khlong Toei Nok pier on the Bangkok side for ฿10 to ฿20 and run from about 06:00 to 20:00, and bicycles are rented on the far bank, which is the usual way to get around. The café also rents e-scooters. Cars can't use the lane, so the last 300 meters are on foot.
It is open from 10:30 to 18:00, a little later at weekends. Boats thin out after dark, so plan the ride back before sunset. Bang Nam Phueng's weekend floating market is nearby.
