Here Hai is what happens when a tiny family wok shop gets very, very good at one thing and the internet finds out. The thing is crab fried rice, an outrageous heap of wok-breathed rice buried under lumps of crab meat, cooked in a kitchen the size of a wardrobe on Ekkamai and recognized by the Michelin guide for years running. The giant grilled river prawns and the crab omelet back it up, but nearly every table orders the same famous plate — and photographs it before touching it.

The line is part of the legend; the shop is small, demand is not, and waits at peak hours are real. The payoff is street-shop pricing for seafood extravagance — the crab fried rice costs a fraction of what hotel restaurants charge for less crab.
