Art Gallery 36
Tucked along Sukhumvit Soi 36 in the Khlong Toei district, Art Gallery 36 is a family-owned and operated gallery offering an extensive collection of paintings spanning a wide range of styles, genres, and artists. What distinguishes it from larger commercial galleries is the personal, attentive approach of the owners, who curate the collection themselves and engage directly with visitors to help them find pieces that resonate. Visitors can expect a welcoming, unhurried atmosphere where browsing feels genuinely personal rather than transactional. The gallery carries works in various styles, making it accessible to both seasoned collectors and casual art enthusiasts. Custom portrait commissions are also available, with the owners reportedly attentive to client feedback throughout the process — reviewing drafts and incorporating requested changes before finalising a piece. Art Gallery 36 is open six days a week, Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 to 18:00, and is closed on Sundays. The gallery is conveniently located near the BTS Thong Lo station, making it easy to incorporate into a broader Sukhumvit itinerary. Those interested in commissioning custom artwork are advised to visit or reach out via the gallery website in advance, as bespoke pieces require additional lead time.

The shop owner is very kind. I ordered a portrait drawing, and the shop paid great attention to detail. He even asked me for a review about whether I wanted any additions or changes. Most importantly, they offered additional excellent services to help coordinate the packing and shipping of the picture to an international destination.
Wonderful art gallery in Bangkok, that is family owned and operated. My wife and I traveled all over Thailand and visited multiple art galleries. This one is by far the best and offers various paintings from renowned artists to up and coming artists. Highly reccomend a visit.

Dress Modestly
Cover shoulders and knees at all temples. Carry a light scarf or sarong — some temples lend wraps, but not all. Shoes come off before entering any building with a Buddha image.
Mind Your Feet
Never point your feet at a Buddha image or a monk — it's considered deeply disrespectful. When sitting inside a temple, tuck your feet behind you or to the side.
Ask Before Photographing
Exterior photos are almost always fine, but some interior halls prohibit photography. Look for signs, and never pose irreverently with Buddha images — it's a legal offense in Thailand.
