Bar.Yard
Perched on the 40th floor of the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok in the upscale Lumphini neighbourhood, Bar.Yard sets itself apart from the typical rooftop bar with a tropical garden-inspired design that brings a relaxed, outdoor feel to one of the city's highest vantage points. The open-air setting frames sweeping panoramic views of the Bangkok skyline, making it a popular draw for both sunset sessions and late-night outings. The atmosphere leans lively rather than stuffy — expect a DJ, a sociable crowd, and cocktails as the main event. Visitor reviews consistently highlight the music and service as standout elements, and the vibe is described as energetic without feeling overcrowded. Food is available but drinks are clearly the focus here, so it is worth keeping expectations calibrated on that front. The venue draws a mix of hotel guests, expats, and tourists looking for a polished but unpretentious night out. Bar.Yard opens at 5 PM daily, staying open until 1 AM on weekdays and 2 AM on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays — making it a workable option for pre-dinner drinks or a full evening out. Sunset hours on weekends tend to draw the largest crowds, so arriving closer to opening time is a sensible move for those who prefer a quieter start to the evening. The upscale hotel setting calls for smart casual attire, and checking the venue's website ahead of time is advisable for any minimum spend or reservation requirements.

Bar Yard is a total vibe! Incredible city views and a crowd that’s just right—lively but not overcrowded. The music was excellent and the service from Gibsy was top-tier. Food is ok. Insider tip: If it’s Saturday, stay near the bar for the free shots, otherwise you might have to ask! Definitely coming back.
Amazing rooftop bar located in Kimpton hotel! Very friendly service from the gorgeous team! All the foods that we ordered are super good! Unfortunately we came here on a rainy day and didn't get a chance to experience the view. But will definitely be back again!

Tips for Visiting Restaurants & Food
Learn the Spice Scale
Say 'mai pet' for no spice, 'pet nit noi' for a little spice, or 'pet mak' if you want it Thai-hot. Most cooks will default to a toned-down version for foreigners unless you specify otherwise.
Follow the Crowds
The busiest street stalls are almost always the best — high turnover means fresh ingredients and a recipe that locals vouch for. An empty restaurant at dinner time is a red flag.
Ice Is Safe
Factory-made tube or cylinder ice (used in virtually all restaurants and stalls) is made from purified water and is safe to consume. You don't need to skip the iced Thai tea.
