Phuket Grocery

4.1(483 reviews)

Phuket Grocery is a spacious, air-conditioned supermarket and shopping complex in the heart of Phuket Town, offering an extensive range of goods at notably competitive prices. Compared to other major retailers on the island, it is consistently praised for its affordability, making it a practical choice for travellers on extended stays or anyone looking to stock up without overspending. The store carries a broad selection of fresh produce, meats, fish, dry goods, cosmetics, household essentials, and chilled beverages including beer and wine.

Beyond the supermarket floor, the complex functions as a small mall with a food court, a pharmacy, and international chains including KFC and Pizza Hut alongside independent local vendors. This mix makes it a useful one-stop destination for both everyday necessities and a quick meal. Vegetarian-friendly food options are available in the food market area, which operates daily and draws both locals and longer-term visitors.

Open every day from 6:00am to 10:00pm, the centre is accessible throughout the week with generous hours that suit early shoppers and those finishing a day out late. Free on-site parking is available, and the location on Thanon Ongsimphai is straightforward to find by car or taxi. Those staying in Phuket Town or self-catering nearby will find it particularly convenient as a regular shopping stop.

Reviews from Google

Phuket Grocery and Shopping Mall was one of the largest indoor air conditioned places where there was a large selection of produce, meats, fish and dry goods that I could find. Cold beer and wine may not be purchased from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. Wait until after 5:00 pm to closing per Thai regulators per signage above the cold beer storage fridges.

Has good food market everyday in December when we visited. Has good quality cheap food even for vegetarians like me. Has KFC and Pizza Hut for international traveller.

Great supermarket with cheap price. They have a lot variety goods and products, from cosmetics, bathroom utensils, food and drink, and home necessities. My weekly must visits during my 1 month stay in Phuket.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls

Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.

Arrive Early or Late

Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.

Be Cautious with Tailors

Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
