SAMA Onsen & Massage
Tucked away in Talad Yai, this wellness venue brings together Japanese onsen bathing culture and professional massage therapies under one roof. The interior carries a distinctly Japanese aesthetic — clean lines, calm tones, and thoughtful décor that sets a relaxed mood from the moment guests arrive. It draws a consistent crowd of both tourists and locals, reflecting its reputation as a reliable retreat from Phuket's busier streets. The massage program offers a range of treatments, with therapists noted by repeat visitors for their skill and attentiveness. Guests can select from multiple oil options to personalise their session, and couples massage is available for those visiting together. The onsen facilities provide a warm, restorative soak that pairs well with the bodywork treatments, making it easy to spend a longer stretch of time unwinding. The venue is bookable through platforms such as Klook, which past guests have found straightforward and convenient. Good to know: The spa does get busy, and walk-in availability is not guaranteed — booking in advance is strongly recommended, particularly during peak tourist periods. Opening hours are not listed online, so contacting the venue directly before visiting is advisable. The address on Soi Saphanhin is reported to be easy to locate, but confirming your reservation ahead of arrival will help avoid any booking miscommunications on the day.

🌿 For Indians Visiting Phuket & Unsure About Thai Massages — My Honest Review If you’re visiting Phuket and feeling scared or confused about which spa is safe and genuine, I totally understand — I was the same! But I found Sama Onsen Massages, and it turned out to be one of the best experiences of our trip. We took the Couple Onsen Relaxology Massage, and the whole environment was super clean, peaceful, and classy (sharing pictures for assurance). What I loved the most is that we could choose the oil type and the pressure level exactly the way we wanted. I was SO happy with their service that I even took an extra 60-minute foot massage, and honestly that was amazing too! If you want a safe, respectful, and truly relaxing Thai massage in Phuket, this place is a big YES from me. 💯✨
We thoroughly enjoyed our couples massage…there was a slight miscommunication and when we got to the venue we were told our booking was not confirmed. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us without having to wait. The scrub and aromatic massage was spectacular. They present their selections of oils and scrubs for you to choose from. Venue is beautiful and relaxing…nothing like the gas station it is situated in😂 masseuse Nut was amazing 🥹
Tips for Visiting Wellness & Spas
Learn Wat Pho First
Wat Pho in Bangkok is the birthplace of traditional Thai massage education. Their on-site massage pavilion offers excellent treatments from students and graduates at reasonable prices — and you know the technique is authentic.
Communicate Pressure Preferences
Thai massage can be intense. Say 'bao bao' for lighter pressure or 'nак nак' for harder. A good therapist will check in, but don't hesitate to speak up — suffering in silence defeats the purpose.
Book Longer Sessions
A 60-minute massage is fine, but 90 or 120 minutes allows the therapist to work thoroughly. The price difference is often only 200–400 THB for an extra hour — worth it for a deeper, more relaxing experience.
