SmileLand Pattaya Street Food Market
Situated on Phettrakul Road in Bang Lamung, this open-air street food market is a relatively new addition to Pattaya's casual dining scene. Decorated throughout and designed with photography in mind, it brings together a range of local food vendors offering Thai dishes at local prices, making it a practical alternative to tourist-facing restaurants for visitors wanting something more neighbourhood in feel. As the market is still establishing itself, visitors should expect a developing atmosphere rather than a fully packed bazaar — some stalls and sections remain vacant, and crowd levels on weekdays can be quiet. That said, the variety of food sellers, the open-air setting, and the affordable pricing give it genuine appeal for those willing to explore beyond the well-worn tourist trail. A fish tank foot spa on site has drawn positive attention, with one visitor noting the tanks are exceptionally well maintained and priced at 100 Baht for an hour-long soak. Opening hours run daily from 10:00 AM to midnight, but based on visitor experiences, the market comes to life noticeably later in the evening. Arriving before 9:30 PM on a weeknight may mean a quieter, less atmospheric visit, so those looking for energy and a fuller selection of vendors are better served by arriving closer to 10:00 PM. Bringing cash is advisable, as smaller street food stalls typically do not accept card payments.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping
Haggle at Markets, Not Malls
Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.
Arrive Early or Late
Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.
Be Cautious with Tailors
Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
