Villa Market Index

4.3(508 reviews)

This is where you go when you've had enough of the 7-Eleven snack shelf and want extra mature cheddar, a bottle of Japanese whisky, or a Western condiment you can't find anywhere else in Hua Hin. It's a proper upscale supermarket: big, clean, laid out sensibly, with Thai staples and household basics sitting alongside the imported stuff. The Thai products are priced normally. The imports are not, and you should walk in expecting that.

Who it suits: anyone self-catering, anyone in Hua Hin for more than a few days, anyone with dietary requirements that make ordinary Thai supermarkets hard work. Staff get consistently warm mentions, including one shopper who got a dropped debit card back two days later.

One honest caveat. A few shoppers have flagged shelf labels not matching the price at the till, and packaged meat and frozen fish that didn't hold up. So check the receipt and give perishables a proper look before they go in the trolley. Nothing that should put you off, but worth knowing.

I just wanted to say how wonderful and helpful the staff are at this place!! I dropped my debit card when leaving the Villa Market and someone found and gave it to the staff who were so kind and honest and kept it staff and secure. When I came to look for it 2 days later I was amazed at my good fortune to find they had it, being a foreigner it saved me so much time and trouble getting it replaced, I can't thank them enough, 💙💙💙

Upscale grocery store. Some imported items are expensive, while local items are affordable. Very good selection overall Friendly staff

Overcharge, hide poor meat in the bottom of a tray and misleading shelf labeling. Further issue with product from Villa Market. Frozen fish freezer burnt and when thawed “mush”. Store not accepting accountability, eventually changed for lower cost product. Repeated quality issues at this branch. Try the one in Hua Hin town, better product and better attitude. 1. Shelf label in front of products - not the price charged, despite the product being directly behind. 2. Beware of packaged meat; fat and gristle hidden underneath. In this case about half. When complained they just shrugged shoulders and laughed.

Tips for Visiting Markets & Shopping

Haggle at Markets, Not Malls

Prices at market stalls are negotiable — start at 50–60% of the asking price and meet in the middle. Fixed-price shops and malls don't haggle. Smile and keep it friendly; aggressive bargaining is considered rude.

Arrive Early or Late

Vendors believe the first sale of the day is lucky — you'll often get a better deal if you arrive right when the market opens. Late in the evening, sellers may also discount to avoid packing unsold goods.

Be Cautious with Tailors

Bangkok has excellent tailors, but also many tourist traps. Avoid anyone offering suspiciously cheap suits or who approaches you on the street. Ask your hotel for recommendations, read reviews, and always get two fittings.
