Why go, and how to do it well
Get here early. That's the whole trick with this stretch on Ko Larn's southern side. People who turn up soon after the 6am opening describe having the sand more or less to themselves, with jungle behind, water in front and no noise. By mid-morning the boats have done their work and the quiet is gone.
It's cleaner and clearer than Tawaen, and the crowd skews younger and thinner. Sunbeds run 100 baht, and the trees along the shore keep the umbrella area cool. The trade-off is that everything else costs more than elsewhere on the island, food included, and the food isn't much good anyway. There are monkeys at the mountainous end, happy to take fruit or a drink of water off you.
On snorkeling, I'd manage expectations hard. Regulars who knew this reef years ago say the coral is almost entirely dead now, and there are long-spined sea urchins in serious numbers. There's also a stronger current and more wave action here than at the island's other beaches, so swim with that in mind.

Pretty and relatively quiet beach. Not nearly as crowded as Tawaen beach, and generally a bit younger crowd. 🌊 Clean water, but also a stronger current and more waves. 🐒 At one end of the beach (where it’s slightly mountainous) there are wild monkeys that you can feeds. If you bring a bottle of water and offer it to them they’ll drink it. They also like fruits, especially bananas. 🗑️ Please don’t leave trash here, and if you want to do some good bring a big plastic bag and collect some of the trash that lays around and bring it back to one of the big bins near the parking lot.
It nice and quiet beach. I was here 13 years ago, back then it had nice coral reef, unfortunately now very few corals and 99% dead and 10 of thousands of long spined SEA URCHIN. I hope Thailand does something before all coral reefs are gone.
Beautiful and very clean beach – really well-maintained! Sunbed rental is only 100 Baht, which is reasonable. The toilets are not free and unfortunately in quite poor condition. Food is available on-site, but the quality isn’t great – we’d recommend driving just a few minutes to find better options nearby. Overall, a lovely spot for the beach itself!
