Misfits Hostel & Bar
Compare prices
Tucked in the relaxed mountain town of Pai in Mae Hong Son province, Misfits Hostel & Bar has earned a strong reputation among budget and social travellers for its genuine community feel and consistently high standards. The hostel offers both dormitory and private double room options, with guests regularly noting the cleanliness, comfort, and reliable air conditioning — a practical advantage in Pai's warmer months. The atmosphere here leans decidedly social without feeling overwhelming. Amenities include a pool table and basketball facilities, and the bar adds a natural gathering point for guests. The hostel is also home to a dog and an iguana, which have become something of unofficial mascots. Staff, including frequently mentioned team members Pam and Eddie, are praised across reviews for being approachable, proactive, and genuinely hospitable — the kind of hosts who make a short stay feel like more. For practical planning, Misfits is located at 294 Tambon Wiang Tai in Pai, and prospective guests should note that no website is currently listed, so booking through third-party accommodation platforms is the most reliable approach. Pai itself is a seasonal destination — the cool season from November to February is the most popular and pleasant time to visit, though the town draws travellers year-round. Given the hostel's reputation and relatively small size, booking in advance is advisable, particularly during peak travel periods.

Visitor Reviews
Misfits Hostel absolutely exceeded all my expectations. The rooms are spotless and super comfortable, with great air conditioning (a must in Pai!). There’s a really nice pool table and even a basketball court — perfect for chilling or meeting other travelers. The location is ideal too, just a short walk from town, so you’re close to all the action but far enough to enjoy some peace and quiet. The bar is always buzzing, with awesome happy hour deals that make it hard to leave. But the real highlight is the Sunday family dinner — seriously, don’t miss it. It’s free, and the food was hands down the best I’ve had anywhere in Asia. There’s a huge variety, more than enough for seconds (and thirds). It’s such a wholesome, communal vibe that makes everyone feel like family. What truly makes Misfits special, though, are the people. Pam and Ying are absolute legends — hilarious, warm, and genuinely some of the nicest humans you’ll ever meet. They go above and beyond to make sure everyone feels welcome and has an unforgettable stay. If you’re coming to Pai, don’t even think twice — stay at Misfits.
Misfits was our favourite place to stay in our 60 days in Thailand!! Eddie & Pam were the most welcoming and best hosts throughout our stay, the staff were lovely and fun at all times aswell, everyone would sort you out with anything you needed ⭐️ It was a nice distance away from the main walking street that we could walk there. There was always something going on creating a nice atmosphere for my partner and I, especially with the cosy hammock upper area. We booked a dorm, extended to a private room bungalow then extended to the dorm again! 10/10 from both of us! We’ll 100% be back! 🫶
Great hostel with a really friendly atmosphere. The owner and staff were really lovely and welcoming, always smiling and helpful. They have a dog and an iguana at the hostel which was really cool. The hostel has a ping pong table, a pool table and a basketball hoop. During happy hour (4-7pm), small bottles of beer are only 55 baht too, and 70 baht outside of this.
