NOMAD Hostel Krabi

4.6(58 reviews)

Situated on Krabi Road in the Pak Nam area of Muang Krabi, NOMAD Hostel is a budget-friendly lodging option that draws travellers looking for a clean, comfortable base from which to explore the Krabi region. The hostel operates around the clock, making it convenient for guests arriving or departing at irregular hours.

The standout features here are the well-maintained dorm rooms, which come equipped with individual privacy curtains, personal lighting, and power outlets at each bed — details that experienced hostel travellers tend to appreciate. Bathrooms are separated from shower areas, and free towels are provided, which is a practical touch not always found at this price point. The reception area doubles as a relaxed communal space where guests can share a coffee or conversation, and the overall cleanliness of the property is consistently noted by visitors. It is worth being aware, however, that some guests have found rooms affected by street noise from the surrounding road, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs or request a quieter room.

NOMAD Hostel suits solo travellers and backpackers who prioritise value and cleanliness over a lively party atmosphere. Given its location in Krabi town rather than on the beach, it works well as a convenient hub for day trips to Railay Beach, the Phi Phi Islands, and other nearby attractions. Booking in advance is advisable during the high season, which runs roughly from November through April.

Pessonally, I had a great time in Krabi and I’m sure it wouldn’t be so if I wouldn’t stay in Nomad Hostel. Big and quaint reception, just perfect to have a coffee in the morning, a nice talking or just chill out. Spacious rooms and very comfortable beds with curtains, is great to have privacy in a shared room. Showers super clean and hot water all the time. The family that runs it is incredible lovely and amazingly helpful. Jay, the daughter, speaks fluent English so you won’t have any difficulties with the communication. Since is a family business, it gives you the warmness of home that you miss when you’re traveling. For sure I’ll be back to Nomad anytime I’m back in Krabi.

This hostel is nice and clean. The beds have privacy curtains which are always a plus and they provide a towel to you free of charge. Each dorm room has a shared bathroom which was nice and clean. The only reason I give four stars is that I had some minor difficulty communicating with the staff when I asked about laundry services and where I could catch a bus to Ao Nang, but I was still able to get my laundry done. The laundry is done by weight and they charge 60 baht per kg to wash, dry and fold your clothes for you which is a good rate. I also tried to inform them that there was a puddle of water on the floor under the sink in the bathroom due to a leak and the lady clearly didn't understand what I was trying to explain to her and she just smiled and waved me on. Even with the minor difficulties communicating I still had an enjoyable stay here.

Cannot recommend, very strange atmosphere, felt not safe + very noisy rooms due to street noise A good hotel or hostel not only has a clean bed and bathroom, but also a lounge/common area where you can sit down and feel comfortable. At Nomad Hostel you won’t find this. The atmosphere is strange, dark and oppressive and I would have been better off leaving immediately (but noticed this only later). This hostel seems to have fallen out of time; a few years ago, it was probably better, more comfortable and livelier. Now, there were apparently no other guests; I seemed to be the only one there – this seems to happen frequently, as you can read in other reviews. I completely underestimated the effect of this point. When I arrived at the agreed time to check-in, there was no one at reception, everything was dark - but the front door was open. I had to wait in the hot reception until the owner arrived. Even in the evening, there was no one there, nor was there anyone the next morning. It was a spooky atmosphere. The lobby/common room is messy, hot and not inviting to linger in. No refrigerator, no drinking water was offered. In the room itself, there is only a single chair, no shelves in the room or coat hooks. The bathroom door cannot be closed, which is certainly a problem when the room is fully occupied, as you can hear everything. The bathroom facilities are okay, but the shower urgently needs a thorough cleaning. The shampoo was watered down and unusable, but luckily I brought my own. The water pressure in the shower is inadequate; only a little water trickles out, and you have to contort yourself acrobatically to get under the water, but at least it was warm. The room faces the extremely noisy street, so it is very loud in the room even at night. I slept very poorly. The pillows are extremely high, thick and firm, very uncomfortable. I had to pay a 500 baht deposit to get the room key. Cannot recommend this hostel. The negative aspects of this place outweigh the positive ones, but at least the bed and mattress were good, the towel was clean, the air conditioning in the room worked and there was a large locker under the bed.
