About Al's Resort Samui

Situated on Chaweng Beach in Bo Put, Koh Samui, Al's Resort is a mid-range hotel offering modern, studio-style rooms, some with balconies and gulf views. Its location places guests within easy reach of Central Samui and the beach itself, making it a practical base for exploring the island. On-site amenities include a swimming pool, spa, and dining options, giving guests the option to stay comfortable without venturing far.

Guest experiences at Al's Resort tend to vary. Reviewers frequently praise the cleanliness of the rooms and the quality of the beds, with several noting exceptionally comfortable nights' sleep. The bar has also drawn positive attention, with cocktails singled out as a highlight of the on-site food and beverage offering. However, some guests have flagged mixed experiences with service and value for money, so expectations are worth calibrating before booking.

Prospective visitors should review room categories carefully on the resort's website, as layout and views differ between room types. The studio-style configuration places the vanity area outside the main bathroom, which is worth noting for those travelling as couples or with specific space requirements. Booking directly through the resort's website at alsresortsamui.com may provide access to the most current rates and availability. Koh Samui's drier season runs roughly from December to April, which is generally considered the most favourable time to visit.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel. The beds were outstanding – incredibly comfortable and of exceptional quality. We slept amazingly well every single night, which made our entire trip even more enjoyable and relaxing. The location is simply perfect. It is extremely convenient and ideally situated, making it easy to explore the surrounding area and access everything we needed within a short distance. Overall, we couldn’t have been happier with our experience. The combination of superb comfort and an excellent location makes this hotel a place we would highly recommend and gladly return to.

We stayed at Al's Resort for 5 nights. There are positives and negatives. The Room: Studio style with separate toilet/shower room. The vanity area is outside the bathroom across from the closet. Overall the room itself was nice and served its purpose. There were doors that opened up to a small courtyard but unfortunately this was unusable. It had dead plants, planks of wood with nails, and what I assume is a sewer access releasing an awful smell. Additionally, the air-conditioning unit was situated directly above the sewer causing our room to smell when using the fresh air con setting. We ended up switching to internal air circulation only to avoid this. The Price: Our room was $940 for 5 nights. The Amenities: The pools are both really nice. One is located in the middle of the complex and the other down by the beach. There's also 2 hot tubs available. The restaurant has a nice, daytime vibe for relaxation and sea gazing. The music choice is questionable later in the afternoon with club style music but there was also live mic and guitar music for some of the time. Light sleepers may have difficulties sleeping as the heavy and loud club music continues on into the night. Overall, Al's Resort is a nice, mid-range resort offering nice rooms and amenities.

Went here for drinks only, and it's by far the best cocktails I've had during our two years in Thailand. The young bartender Shwe is brilliant and very good service. Sure he's fairly new to Thailand, and still has some learning to do but I'm sure that with the peak season. he will know the English by heart within short. This is the first place in two years where cocktails were really good, and I've stayed at pretty descent hotels, tried numerous bars and restaurants and traveled a fair bit. I only wished I'd found this place earlier than our fifth and final night in the area. This is the bar to visit!

Tips for Visiting Hotels & Resorts

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates

Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.

Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive

Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.

Location Matters More Than Stars

A well-located 3-star hotel often beats a remote 5-star resort. In Bangkok, staying near a BTS or MRT station saves hours; on islands, proximity to the beach you actually want matters most.
