Nestled along the banks of the River Kwai in Sai Yok, Kanchanaburi, HomePhutoey River Kwai Hotspring Resort offers a rare combination of Japanese-style onsen bathing and immersive Thai riverside nature. The resort's signature River View Onsen rooms feature private hot spring baths, spacious layouts with balconies, walk-in closets, and direct views over the river — all kept to a high standard of cleanliness and upkeep. The surrounding grounds are lush and well-maintained, and the property's remote setting creates a genuinely peaceful atmosphere, with thick morning fog adding to the ambience during the cooler months. Guests can expect attentive staff, quality on-site dining with terrace seating, and a setting that rewards those who slow down and take it in. The resort also serves as a convenient base for exploring the wider Kanchanaburi region, known for its WWII history, national parks, and river activities. Good to know: the resort is open daily from 06:00 to 22:00, and visitors consistently note that a single night feels too short to fully appreciate everything on offer — booking two nights is worth considering. The cooler season, roughly November through February, is particularly atmospheric. Prospective guests should check the official website for room availability and current rates, as onsen villa rooms are a popular choice and may book out in advance.

Visitor Reviews
We booked a River View Onsen room which was excellent. The view was as good as advertised. The room was a great size and very well equipped. It was very well maintained and spotlessly clean. The bed was a good size and the mattress was firm but comfortable. I slept very well. We ordered room service and the food arrived hot and it was very tasty. There are soft drinks, beer and snacks available (at an extra cost) We did use the Onsen bath which was a good size and hot. You can sit in it and watch the river flow past and the nature around you and enjoy the fresh air. We really liked the hotel and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Hopefully we can visit again soon snd for longer the next time.
We absolutely loved our stay in the onsen villa and only wish we could’ve stayed longer, as 1 night is simply not long enough to appreciate and explore all this resort has to offer. The rooms are unique and private, the staff are lovely, the food is delicious, the surroundings are stunning, plus private hot springs - bliss! My only recommendations are that in-room phones be provided, especially for travellers like us who have internet-only SIMs, so had no way of contacting reception other than walking to see them each time we needed their assistance. It would also be handy for the onsen villas to have an outdoor shower, or access to the bathroom, rather than traipsing through the room all wet.
This place is a gem. I was pleasantly surprised by the staffs attention to detail. And the entire resort is right up my alley. Beautiful nature, neatly maintained and cared for. The food was great with good pricing. You just have to ask to have it Thai style or they will make it less spicy for you. Breakfast options were solid with everything I would expect. The room was big and the beds really comfortable. That’s a big plus for me. What I loved was the infinity hot spring pool overlooking the lake with a normal tempered swimming pool next to it. Switching from hot to cold in a second was a pleasure. I highly recommend it for anyone that wants to relax and enjoy the Kwai vibe to the max.

Compare OTAs and Direct Rates
Always check the hotel's own website after finding a rate on Agoda or Booking.com. Many Thai properties offer a best-rate guarantee or throw in perks like free breakfast when you book direct.
Pool Villa Doesn't Mean Expensive
Private pool villas in Krabi, Hua Hin, and Chiang Mai start around 2,500–4,000 THB/night — a fraction of Bali or Maldives prices. Search specifically for 'pool villa' to surface hidden gems.
