You're staying out in Ban Pong, in Hang Dong, not in the city. That's the whole point of this one. If your idea of a Chiang Mai trip is walking out of the lobby into the Old City moat traffic, this isn't it. If you'd rather wake up somewhere rural and drive in when you feel like it, it makes a lot of sense.
It's a villa-style property rather than a resort block, so expect something smaller and more private than the big places nearer the center. Hang Dong itself is the district travelers tend to end up in once they've done Chiang Mai a couple of times, for craft villages, a slower pace, and a straightforward run to the airport. Handy if you've got an early flight.
